I don't really see it happening, I think Steam for Linux was something Valve saw as necessary to push this "Steam Universe" stuff.

I don't have anything against FreeBSD but from what I hear if they get their Linux compatibility up to par then there wouldn't be much of a need for a FreeBSD port.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

Yea i see your point here and yes There is linux support in freebsd that needs to get up to bar which is getting there.

Since Linux and *BSD are POSIX compliant, it might be possible to run Steam for Linux on *BSD. I'm not sure though, but you could try it.

If Steam has been written with POSIX compatibility in mind, well maybe.
POSIX doesn't necessary mean *nix though, Plan9 had compatilility layer, so as z/OS.
Believe it or not, even many Windows XX have some compatilility layer in Ultimate or Enterprise editions

BSD does have a linux compatibility layer (think wine except this one actually works reliably) so I imagine with a little bit of hacking it could be done as long as you have drivers for your video card.

Drivers are no problem, really - Nvidia already support FreeBSD.

It would need the libraries updating though - FreeBSD uses an older set of Linux libraries. It may happen, but it will take a while.

I love the BSD's. They're a well-structured delight, and as servers they're wonderful.

Well i'm sure it will happen i just can't wait i love BSD
I just wish Nvidia drivers could be install on Debian GNU/kFreeBSD. It's a great system. I would love to try out some gaming on it.
