KDE Plasma.

Found this old thread, same problem.

Also the Steam is very bugged.
When I press 'l' (tiny L) this error shows up.
[0603/114136.662070:WARNING:keyboard_code_conversion_x.cc(1441)] Unknown keycode:108
For ','
[0603/114123.874878:WARNING:keyboard_code_conversion_x.cc(1441)] Unknown keycode:44
And so other letters like, '<', '>', 'CTRL+V'.

I have launched executed
dbus-launch steam
to be able to use the tray icon, else I need goes to Plasma Launch Menu to be able to interact with Steam.

Found another work around. Appears Steam use
zenity
to update the reference to the currently libraries. Since I didn't have installed, it was skipping this part.

I use Manjaro with KDE, and zenity is installed. Had to use your dbus-launch solution instead.

dbus-launch seems to have its own caveats, like inability to launch games through gamemode. I hope this'll get sorted out...

Did you try reboot? I ask because the problem occurs to me when I have updated the libs and have rebooted. Maybe in your case the libs are now okay, but you need reboot to load it on memory.

zenity taking action.

Yes, a couple of times.

I got it functional again in Manjaro by installing lib32-libdbusmenu-glib and lib32-libdbusmenu-gtk2.

Hey that is odd, It is a dependency for steam-native-runtime but not for the normal Steam in the Arch repos. Good catch, You can probably report it :)

I have native runtime installed, That is why I did not have the issue :)

Yeah, native runtime doesn't come pre-installed with the native runtime on Manjaro. Not currently, at least. Seems to be a KDE-specific problem.

What's weird is that the tray menu worked just fine at first, but broke after I updated Steam in-client.

That would depend on KDE version. I run KDE neon and haven't had an issue in KDE 5.18/5.19.
