Sounds exciting! and if there's open spots in the expansion team = let me know! :) In between jobs haha. Maybe give the Imperial Age a big Whoa and upgrade the 'Architecture' research technology to do this?

you know you want to make an age of empires 4, we all know you do, with 10 years past we all hope you do , age II HD was a great thing to see when we all lost hope on all things age of empires, but since it's release, i have, and probably many others, hope to see in the coming years for age of empires 4, as promised, the modern era. <3

Absolutely delighted at the news of a new expansion, as are all my friends in the 6-player group we have regular games with. We're not the best, but it's good fun :P

I'm sure the decisions on the new Civs have already been made, but a while ago I was having this discussion with someone else ( HockeySam and others) on this Forum and came up with what we thought were the best Civs that could be added in terms of potential and historical representation, etc.

It happened from here onwards, for a few pages -

There were 5 Civs discussed mainly, and these 5 were historically important, and nice and varied -
- Portuguese
- Khmer
- Tibetans
- Mali/Songhai
- Ethiopians

The Ghana and Mali Empires were kind of a continuation of each other chronologically, and the areas overlapped, so I think combining them into one would be a good call, as then you have a bigger historical period to base campaigns and units and the like out of. They were big on gold and trade, so I guess that could be a focus for the civ.

Ethiopian Empire would be great. Haven't a notion what they were good at or known for though. One small complication of these two civs is that they would obviously share the same architecture set - but in terms of the Monastery building, Ethiopia was most definitely Christian, and Mali/Ghana most definitely Islamic. But I'm sure something would be worked out.

Portuguese - I'm really warming to the idea of these guys. I'm assuming they'd some focus on navy and trading, but haven't a clue otherwise. Super line-of-sight for some ships maybe?
Curious as to what their architecture set would be. I can see three options - 1) Give them the Western European one, same as Britons/Celts/Franks/Spanish, 2) Make them a new one, and also give it to the Spanish and call it "Iberian" or 3) Give them and the Spanish the existing Italian set, and call it "Mediterranean".

Khmer and Tibetan Empires - I dunno what the Khmer would use, but I'm guessing Tibetans would have a heavy monk focus. Both could use the East Asian architecture, I guess.

Of course, this was just ideas I had a year and a half ago - what is in development is probably much more different, and I can't wait to see it either way. The current pic looks like it could be Moors or Berbers.

Another discussion regarding these civs here -

It wouldn't surprise me if some African civilizations were included, as those and possible North American ones are missing (not sure if there would be any NA ones that could be added though in the relevant time period?).

exciting news!! you are developing directing in our hearts,
Please include Bulgaria as well as Poland. Will people just upvote so the devs can at least notice this?

Could it be possible to add unique graphics for units per civilization? Like how the buildings appearance is different depending on what group of civilization builds them. I think it would be really great to add this so civilizations have a more unique feeling. It always felt strange to me to train Saracen Knights that looked exactly the same as the European ones they were trying to fend off. I'm thinking of something like this.

Thank you very much for continuing to support this game with patches and the upcoming expansion! I'm really excited about it :D Cheers!!!

I'd request something that i've seen before on AOE3, outfits according to each civilization, It would be great to see an aztec champion using an obsidian sword or an spearman using feathers and aztec like stuff (the villagers should get their outfits too), also from AOE3, the ability for each range unit to use melee weapons whenever on close combat, like the bowmen using small swords fighting melee.

By the other hand, nerfing siege weapons. Some AI and players abuse of them, and while they are easy to counter with horsemen, it kinda breaks the spirit of having epic fights, it would be good if there is a siege weapon limit or if they could be captured by the enemy (like sheeps and cows) if they are not surrounded by your army to discourage their usage (besides it would be more realistic).

Another point that I liked on AOE3 was that you could create several units at the time, you could create 5 musketeers i.e... I see this request a little invalid since it would change a lot the gameplay and I dont even know if I would end up liking this on the future, but is nice to wonder.
