Egyptian civilization for African Kingdoms mod
I'm stoked for the upcoming African Kingdoms expansion, and I'd like to mod in a new civilization to it once it's released this week. The civilization I have in mind is Egypt, as in the ancient civilization of the Pharaohs. It would use the new African architectural set since it represents the country's indigenous pre-Islamic culture, although of course its Wonder would be based off one of the famous ancient monuments (I'm thinking the Sphinx, since I wanted something other than the Pyramids).

Their unique unit would probably be the Medjay Ranger, representing the Medjay warriors that served as a police force during the Egyptian New Kingdom. They would have superior range, accuracy, and speed to other archers in the game, but lower hitpoints. Their unique technologies would be Floodplain Irrigation (adding 200 food to farms) and Imhotep's Genius (reduces the stone and wood cost of Castles, Walls, and Towers by 25%). Other unique properties for the Egyptian civilization would include free Houses, a reduction of Wood cost of 20% for most other structures, Wonders costing 15% less for all resources, and all infantry and cavalry units having upgraded speed and downgraded armor.

I plan to make this mod myself, and I know where to look for information on modding civilizations into the game. But what are your guys' thoughts on having a native Egyptian civilization added to African Kingdoms?

(And yes, I am aware AoK takes place long after the Egyptian civilization was conquered by Arabs and others. But let's face it, the first AoE hasn't aged all that well, and then AoM has the mythological element. Let's just say this is extending the time frame of AoK further back.)

COUGH Celts COUGH

Celts are perfect to represent Ireland, Britanny, Wales and other Celtic-speaking states that existed during the middle ages. They aren't really the exact same culture that existed during the Iron Age, just an evolution of it.

Monks +3 range (wololo!!!!)
Unique Unit: Chariot Archer
yeah u have to have a chariot
You know, as much as a Chariot Archer would suit ancient Egypt, it would need some ability to compete with the other civilizations' mounted units. What advantages would a chariot have against cavalry where the soldiers were riding directly on horseback? Horseback did replace chariots after all in the Old World...

BTW I have concept art for my Medjay Ranger UU:

hi, do you know where can i learn these modding skills?:D
Sounds interestig. Egypt proper really wasn't around anymore by the time period(s) in which AoK takes place, but then again we have Koreans battling Incas on the skirmish map, so what gives.
