Mastering it gives the enjoyment.
Definitely a good crash course for newbies. :)
Don't place barrels down, build them using the production menu and enable barrels in your stockpiles, it allows you to move your barrels around till you figure out where you want everything.
Games have rules, which allow them to be played.
Some games require player enforcement of the rules, computer games enforce the rules with no player originated alternatives.
Unfortunately I could see you buying a Rubiks Cube and becoming upset because it doesnt work the way you want it to.
I think the OP feels like I do in regards to your whining, and as I do, bafflement, that you are unable to progress in the game, hence his link and comments.
I have seen some of your gripes about gameplay, specifically in regards to gatherng, and struggle to comprehend this as my townies gather.
A tip I will give you - the more auto profuction you use, the less spare townies you have available to perform other tasks such as gathering.
If you dont like that mechanic, well refer to my sentences regarding games and the Rubiks Cube.
You know, when even the devs say there are systems in the game they want to change it makes you sound kinda dumb to try and claim everything is perfect the way it is and anything you don't like about it is purely a personal problem.
Noone ever said they COULDN'T progress in the game, especially Nalidus. There are simply elements of the game that should be much easier to use than they are. Many of which are already having changes planned, like gearing up heroes.
As for the OP, thanks for trying to be helpful but next time maybe you shouldn't try so hard to flame-bait.
this tutorial i posted, along with the same youtube user's next video after that, is a great crash course in how to get started. the rest is still trial and error though, and some people just cannot handle the frustration.. therefore, this game might not be for them afterall.
Well, yeah. The management genre tends to have a pretty high barrier to entry due to how very different it is from most other genres to play. On the surface it appears to be like any other RTS, which is why some people get frustrated early when they realize they can't directly control anyone. That's an unfortunate matter of genre perception that's never going to change so there isn't much point in worrying about that.
When making a game like this one (in a genre so similar to another with such different rule sets) it becomes far more important to have a good tutorial to properly explain to people why this is different from what they were expecting and how to control it. Sadly, this game hasn't done itself any favors due to the very poor in-game tutorial and rather long-winded tutorial videos. I know people so lacking in patience for that sort of thing that they skip 10 minute tutorials all the time. Getting them to sit still for that old 3 hour tutorial video people used to link to would have been practically impossible.
Anyway, you should be aware that when you allow hostility to make your own arguments hostile, you tend to make your arguments ignored. It wouldn't surprise me if there have been people looking for tutorial videos that didn't click the one you linked due to the text you have underneath it.
