Updated Demo Now Live for Next Fest!

Hello broom enthusiasts one and all! 🧹💨

We’re zooming into Steam Next Fest with a freshly updated demo, now live and ready for you to play! Crescent County will be featured all week, and there's no better time to hop on your motorbroom and take a ride around the Isle of Mor.

🚧 What’s new in the demo?

We’ve made a bunch of improvements since our December 2024 build:

New models and set dressing in several locations
New music tracks for the race
Updated signage (to stop you getting totally lost)
Dialogue choices!

This early tech test includes a tutorial, a race, three delivery missions, and a peek at motorbroom customisation. It's designed to give you a feel for our world, our story, and the unique mechanics at the heart of Crescent County. It's still very much too big an island for what we'll need for the full game, but we wanted to make sure we had good examples of our driving to prove out what our goals were with our Kickstarter (and also to round off the final week with a bang). 🎉 Kickstarter Milestone Unlocked!

While we’ve been sweeping up Next Fest excitement, our Kickstarter has soared past its third stretch goal! We’ve officially passed £73k, unlocking five new Sigil Stickers for the game. Thank you so much!!

Next up, at £78k, all physical reward tiers will receive a FREE premium paper A5 sticker sheet, featuring chibi characters, mini motorbrooms, and doodle stickers that are PERFECT for decorating and scrapbooking. Let’s make it happen!

This is frankly not playable. Overlooking the first scene in the game, the framerate sits between 14 and 31 FPS on Epic and Low presets respectively with a GPU utilization of 99% regardless of settings at 1080p. Ryzen 5 5600X 6700XT 32 GB RAM

Quick status update on the Kickstarter: TEN days left and nearly at £70k!! This is an amazing achievement, thank you all so much for your support so far! Now let's get to the news!

Summer Game Fest 2025

We get very very excited whenever Crescent County gets talked about by someone who isn’t us and so can you imagine our excitement to announce that Crescent County will be in TWO showcases during the Summer Game Fest!

Starting tomorrow at 17:00 BST is the Wholesome Direct[www.summergamefest.com], an incredible line of games with positive and uplifting vibes. We always love the beauty and variety of the games featured in this showcase and it’s a true honour that Crescent County will be counted amongst them.

And then, straight afterwards starting at 19:00 BST we’ve got the Women-Led-Games[www.summergamefest.com] showcase. It shouldn’t be any secret that there are really incredible women working in the Games Industry and many of them take a lead role in creating some of the best games each and every year, much of the work behind Crescent County is thanks to our very own Anna Hollinrake and we can’t wait to see what other creators and projects are showcased alongside Crescent County during this event.

If you happen to spot us during these showcases feel free to tag us on Bluesky/Twitter/Instagram and tell us how excited you are for Crescent County (we don't mind 😉).

Next Fest Demo

We're throwing our baseball cap (which you could get as a Kickstarter reward 👀) into the Next Fest ring!

This Next Fest will be active from June 9th and ends on June 16th. You probably already know this but game demos get so much more coverage and signal boosting during Next Fest and seeing as our Kickstarter is going to come to an end on June 17th, we’d really really appreciate it if everyone reading this could find a moment to hop onto the Crescent County demo during Next Fest and help spread the word about our game!

One of our biggest priorities with Crescent County is ensuring that players are quickly able to experience our world and motorbroom driving mechanics as quickly and easily as possible, and with that in mind we’ve developed a very early tech demo of the game. The size of the map is larger than we need and it’s only got a hint of the story but hopefully it’s enough to convince you that this is a world worth spending time in with a wonderful soundtrack and an introduction to the Isle of Mor.

Our demo starts with a simple, lo-fi tutorial, followed by two races (with some flirty back-and-forths between the characters) and then 3 delivery missions during which you get to know some of the inhabitants of the island. You’ll chat to the Mor locals, getting to know the main cast of characters a little bit and master your drifting, boosting and gliding skills on the motorbroom. If you finish the demo you can get a little taste of our Motorbroom customisations, allowing you to change the stats on your motorbroom.

To those of you who played our demo when it first released in December 2024, we’ve made some small tweaks and improvements! We’ve got some new set dressing, changed the conversations a bit and added some new race music for you to groove and broom along to.

Remember that our Kickstarter campaign is running until Tuesday 17th June, so if you enjoy the demo please consider backing the game on Kickstarter before it’s too late! You’ll be helping our very small team make this dream game come true.

Kickstarter funded in under 24 hours! Stretch goals! London Comic Con!

It’s been just over a week since we launched our Kickstarter, and a LOT has happened. Let’s get to the biggest news first though!

Crescent County hit its funding goal in under 24 hours.

This is an absolutely unbelievable achievement and we are so, so thankful.

For a game idea that started out so small, and so hopeful, and seemed so utterly impossible to make real, we’re now sitting at 62k with 20 days left to go. From all of us at Electric Saint, thank you so much for all your cheering and enthusiasm and support. We crossed the line at 16:37, with more than an hour to left on the clock!

It was also CARNAGE in the Discord as we speculated on whether we’d cross the finish line before the 24 hour mark.

We were screaming, we were cheering, there was much keyboard smashing. We didn’t think it was likely to happen in 24 hours at ALL, but the sheer momentum of this community’s energy carried us forward. With delight and yelling and memes. Sending you all SO MUCH LOVE!!!! We’ve also hit our first stretch goal:

£60k: Expanded Driving Radio!

Music is such a vital moodsetter for our game, and we want to have as many vibey tracks in Crescent County as possible. With the extra funding, we can pay for more music for our in-game radio/background music (not the Spotify playlist)! Alongside creating more original music to add to our OST, we also want to license music from existing artists. We'd love for CC to act as a literal vehicle for music discovery, especially for new and upcoming local bands! This is something we're already doing in a small way, but we want to do it a WHOLE LOT MORE!

Our next stretch goal iiiiis:

£67k: Longer Dates, More Kissin!

With the extra funding we can put more resources and assets into our romances with Aster. Bo, Jessica, and Mara, which includes more animations (taking Jessica on a romantic ride on the back of your broom, anyone?), better date locations (bonfires on the beach, mycology research with Aster, light breaking and entering with Mara), and expanded dialogue options. We really want to create memorable romantic moments with emotional heft (any maybe even some yearning), so this funding will really help us achieve that!

Finally, we rolled straight from our launch into demoing our game to the public at MCM London Comic Con! This may have been one of the most exhausting things Anna has ever done. However, with the support of some incredible booth buddies, it was a wonderful success!

We got some amazing demo feedback that we're going to be applying alongside what we've received in our Discord demo feedback channel, and we got to have a lot of wonderful moments of long-time supporters of Anna's illustration realise that the painting on their wall is a video game now. Also Gengar enjoyed the wares.

To top all of this off, one of our favourite motorbroom enthusiasts Alex customised a Sony Sports CD Walkman to look like a piece of witch-tech straight out of Crescent County! Honestly this is hands down one of the coolest things EVER and it has pride of place on our shelf, forever. Look!! At this!!! We must find a way to reference it in game.

Anyhow, LOTS HAPPENING, LOTS MORE TO COME. We haven't even gotten into the Crescentsonas yet! As always, please tell your friends about our Kickstarter, please back us if you're interested, we've got so much more that we want to do! It's happening, gang, it's happening!

Demo Feedback and accessibility issues

So I just played the demo through and have a few thoughts. First off, I like the concept, the core art has an interesting aesthetic to it and naturally there is the Ghibliesque appeal of doing broom deliveries. However, as the game currently is I don't think I could buy it, because at every turn it is sadly a bit of an accessibility nightmare for me. Obviously, it's possible the full game adds more settings that would fix some of my issues, but I'm doubtful it would fix all. Still, seeing as the game ...

Chromatic Aberration

This game has great vibes and excellent music. I love the rolling hills and nostalgic summer atmosphere. However, as an accessibility feature for folks like myself it would be nice to have a way to turn down, or straight up turn off the chromatic aberration. It really triggers headaches and leaves my eyes hurting if I look at it for more than 10 minutes....
