Random crashes to desktop
After an hour or so of gameplay, the screen will suddenly freeze then go black and crash to the desktop. My drivers are updated etc etc, all that stuff. I've had enough computers and games to know the steps and workarounds but nothing seems to stop this. It would be nice to hear from others experiencing this so at least I know it's less likely to be a problem with my computer. Any tips to prevent it from happening would be appreciated.

The same thing with myself, I hope Ubisoft are working with Nvidia with a fix.
I can see a lot of angry Americans come the 4th of Dec when they get their game.

The only tip I can say is set your card to normal clocks speeds and run the game windowed, or get an AMD card sadly.

Its the game, they need to put out another patch. I have an ATI card and get random crahses as well. I can be playing for 10mins and it will crash or 2-3hrs and then it finally comes to a crash. I even used the 12.11 beta drivers that even says its suppose to improve Far Cry 3 but that do anything and caued it crashes even more often. Switched back to 12.10

Not for nothing, but this issue plagued Far Cry 2 repeatedly on PC. Guess UBI still hasn't learned their lesson

Had the same issue, In the graphics options set textures to Low, seemed to work for me.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've been looking at other posts and it seems a lot of people are having the problem. Also a lot of people report tweaking the settings seems to work (windowed mode, low settings). Here's hoping we get a patch fix for it soon though :)

I'm having the same type of issues with Far Cry 3. Random system crash to black screen. Doesn't seem to happen at any particular time into playing the game.
Unfortunately in my case , the C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 3 renamed to GamerProfile.xml to 1GamerProfile.xml 'fix' didn’t work.
Neither did updating the video drivers, changes to video resolution, disabling AVG etc etc…
Shame because it’s a nice FPS.
Saw a post by someone who mention UBI is French, funny because there is a note in game about the lighthouse being built so ships wouldn’t crash on the rocks, unless
captained by French woman who would ship wreck anyways.
Publisher screwed up releasing this w/bugs but that seems to be the norm with most PC games, not just the ports imo
AMD Phenom X6 1090T 3.2 ghz
ASUS M4A89GTD Pro
AMD 5700HD
Crucial DDR3
Win Xp 32bit
