Install location: Uplay or Steam?

I notice that the Uplay front has it own settings for where to store the installer cache files and where to store the games themselves. Currently these settings are pointing to some locations on drive C: (under C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher)

However, my copy of Far Cry 3 was installed through Steam and I see that all game files ended up in my "normal" Steam location on drive D: (under D:\Games\Steam\steamapps).

So, am I right to assume that Steam can override the current Uplay settings? And that all Uplay games installed through Steam will use Steam-specified installation location, regardless of what Uplay settngs say?

I see that Steam settings won for this install. But will it work that way for all future Uplay installs made through Steam?

Hello, I had this same issue. I had moved the game file but couldn't get steam to recognize I had moved the game. I then uninstalled the game in uplay and steam. Then I went into Uplay to reinstall the game and it let me choose the correct location I wanted.

If you purchased and downloaded the game on Steam it stores it in the location of your Steam-library (...\steamapps\common). You will always have to start it in Steam and it will start Uplay automaticly (I strored my login, so no big deal).
If you buy and download a game via Uplay, it sores it into the Uplay-location definesd in it's settings and you start and run it in Uplay only (won't show up in Steam).
In both cases the game will use the Uplay-cloud-service for savegame-synchronisation not the one from Steam. Steam doesn't overwrite any Uplay-settings.
