GEVs in KSP
Does any1 know if ground effect is simulated properly in KSP? Haven't found nothing on that. I want to try it out but dont really feel like crashing into anything xD
And if yes, does any1 have a link to video tutorital or working design workshop page (preferrably stock)?

Upd
Pls skip answers like 'dude this whole game is about crashing into something', I am well aware of that.

As for VTOL - as stupid as it sounds, there is no need to complicate things

From what i've seen when flying around incl landing etc, it does not simulate groundeffect.
It's kinds like a cushon underneth the aircraft.

And for those interested; http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/aerodynamics/q0130.shtml

A kind of reversed case, is the hydrowing boats that sit in water at low speeds, but "flies" just over the water due to the wing in water.

KSP does not simulate ground effect. The mod FAR, Ferram Aerospace Research also does not simulate ground effect.

\As far as I know, there is no current way to simulate ground effect in KSP.

Too bad :(
You know it's kinda annoying that to get around Laythe where water takes the majority of surface you have to constantly take off and land witha lander, or even worse, a big SSTO (which is PITA even at kerbin where you have airfields) and go to refuel. And I still fail to build a decent VTOL and even if I succeed I'm not quite sure I have the means of bringing it to the surface in one piece. Guess I'll try hydrofoil with rover bay then...

RoofCat doesn't do craft uploads afaik lol.

Just build it yourself.

yeah, I don't do workshop. I don't think it's something you need for a Lego game.
That VTOL above had stability issues going down with 30+m/s. More work with balancing needed or just stay below that at all times.

As for Laythe things like these work just great

as for Kerbin-Laythe taxi I prefer nuke propelled capsule with inflatable heatshield on both ends. One end must be heavier for stability and engines must have enough room for exhaust or point sideways, but it is as simple as brick. Nukes are very efficient and don't need much fuel, tanks can be refuelled with planes like the one above on both ends and those heatshields will slow you down at target without any risk or waste of fuel. Target atmosphere directly, aerobrake capture, stabilize orbit, dock to local craft, transfer crew and refuel, back once there is a window. Just check the optimal Pe for particular design during first trip, rinse and repeat endlessly. Inflatable heatshields don't wear down and can survive a lot. When placed on both ends they have better stability and slow down faster.
