Aerospikes with heavy landers?
I've started using those aerospikes for everything and was wondering how effective it is to use them for landing on moons? I cheated a lander over Moho and they worked really well. It does not vector but SAS is OP in KSP anyways. I used to use Terriers but the Aerospike beats it when you need to use more than one Terrier for thrust.

The fact that they produce electricity is nice. No I didn't totally run out of power when trying to land an Eeloo probe.

last night I landed a 100+ ton craft on Tylo using aerospikes

generally if I'm using just 1 engine, I will also reach for terrier (or poodle)

Nice. Never thought of doing them radially. Playing with life support and everything. I'd probably end up starving the poor bastards while time warping.

Oh, is the GUI showing orbital parameters on the top left a mod? I really want it.

"KER" Kerbal Engineer Redux -- that's its "HUD1" and "HUD2" windows. their default position is a little different but you can customize and move them around

edit - if you do mount them radially put a control point on the other side -- I have a docking port that I do "control from here".. see my profile or the megathread for more screenshots of that same craft

I knew I was forgetting something. I had Kerbal Engineer back on my earlier game.

Hydra here has used its aerospikes to good effect. It's a little less thrust and acceleration than the Poodles I often use for bases like this, but provides little more dv and can still land on most moons.
