Docking Port Alignment Indicator
Hello Guys, I previously used a mod called Docking Port Alignment Indicator. I see it is still available on CKAN but when I download it I cannot get it to activate. Does anyone know if the mod still works or whether it has been replaced by something way cooler? I kinda relied on it to dock (I haven't played for several months).

The mod is perfectly functional.

I'd suggest manual install.

Well I've never needed that mod to dock but I would also suggest a manual install as well as having module manager in there instead of CKAN. Tried the latter once myself but it only messed up my files. Good luck!

It needs module manager.

I had a similar problem in the past. But it was pretty simple: I forgot to click on the button in the top-right corner at the bar (red/organe symbol). Maybe it's just that simple thing too?!

Knowing me, this is probably exactly what I am doing wrong!

All I do is use the Target in SAS and make sure I'm targeting the docking port. Then all I need to do is move forward slowly and strafe sideways with RCS.

I know what you mean but there is something about using a computer rather than doing it by eye that makes it feel more controlled. I like to approach to approx 50m using the navball, hold position, orient my craft as required then make final approach and dock.

I prefer to orient one craft south and the other north. But this almost requires the DAI because I won't see my target on navball until I'm verry close. Also DAI should be stock in my opinion at least the navball only version.

I don't get why everyone likes DAI so much?

I mean, you can just manually target the docking port and it shows up on your navball.

I've trired DIA and I just couldn;t really see what it was offering that the stock game doesn't, except the picture in picture window thing which is kind of neat I guess, but ultimately not needed.

It wont show you the alignment tho...

Just eyeball it? I've never had an issue with alignment, most of the time it doesn't even matter.

Well it somehow does because if youre not aligned you wont dock.
And sure you can dock without this mod, but with this little mod its as easy as it gets.
You have all the informations needed in one window without the need to eyball or guess anything.
-Alignment
-Direction
-Rotation
-Distance port to port
-speed
You don't have to maneuver yourself close infront of the port to see all the markers on the navball and you don't have to point vessels to a know state or eyeball it, it'turns docking into a nice minigame.

Yeah, I tried it back when I was toying with Rasterpropmonitor but I ended up ditching that whole mod set, and since DAI didn't impress me much besides looking cool on one of the little monitors, I got rid of it.

Maybe I'll try it out again.

You really should. To be honest first time I used the mod I didn't really see all the benefits and I too got it because of RPM wich I then ditched because well to be honest again I didn't really use it.
And to add to my previous post: the "speed" it gives you is the one between the ports only! No left, right, up, down just your relative speed at wich you move forwards to the port.
