I'd suggest manual install.
I mean, you can just manually target the docking port and it shows up on your navball.
I've trired DIA and I just couldn;t really see what it was offering that the stock game doesn't, except the picture in picture window thing which is kind of neat I guess, but ultimately not needed.
Just eyeball it? I've never had an issue with alignment, most of the time it doesn't even matter.
And sure you can dock without this mod, but with this little mod its as easy as it gets.
You have all the informations needed in one window without the need to eyball or guess anything.
-Alignment
-Direction
-Rotation
-Distance port to port
-speed
You don't have to maneuver yourself close infront of the port to see all the markers on the navball and you don't have to point vessels to a know state or eyeball it, it'turns docking into a nice minigame.
Yeah, I tried it back when I was toying with Rasterpropmonitor but I ended up ditching that whole mod set, and since DAI didn't impress me much besides looking cool on one of the little monitors, I got rid of it.
Maybe I'll try it out again.
And to add to my previous post: the "speed" it gives you is the one between the ports only! No left, right, up, down just your relative speed at wich you move forwards to the port.
