Cinimatic Mod Versus Filip Victor's Update

I recently decided I'd like to go back through HL2, but with more up to date visuals.
A friend of mine is an avid follower of Cinimatic Mod, although rarely uses the model replacements. I likely won't be using said replacements either if I go with it.

I decided to look around on the net and came across Filip Victor's Update. Suffice to say, I know nothing of it but what is in the thread here.

Does anyone out there know the merits of the two? Is one better than the other, and in what ways?

Are there any other such mods out there I should look into?

I guess you meant CinEmatic Mod not CinImatic Mod xD

Yeah, but I found out that one is a replacement, not an overwrite of HL2. Basically, I want to go back through and actually get achievments while I'm at it.
