But if you do not want to buy the entire package, I would highly recommend downloading Black Mesa: Source which is a free mod of the original Half-Life that blows Half-Life Source out of the water.
Btw.
The original Half-Life won many awards for having the best storyline for first person shooters back in 1999, and playing it is recommended so you know what some characters are talking about in HL2.
