HL3, getting suspicious

I'm the twitchy kind - spuf members know this. But Big picture update that weighed in at 400 mb's ? forums downs, awards shows, and a ton of other Source2, ricochet 2 namedropping getting more and more tighter together. Forums are down, other hardware and infrastructure getting toughened up. Something is about to drop, and in the next couple of months.

Actually it's pretty irritating to not have forums online, it's like they want us to forget it and use these ones instead.

Last predictions was in the summer, during the autumn 2012 and spring 2013 would we get a HL3 announcment. Just rec-confirming and fine-tuning that assessment. ;)

Way too early for announcement.
Valve wants to sell it's next engine with the game, it's new controller, and maybe even it's console.
So the game can't come before next gen consoles are out, will take at least half a year after the launch of those to deliver a valve polished engine, dev tools on the back of HL3. Most likely after mid 2014 if next gen consoles are out by next year's holiday season.

Hl3 been mentioned during the PR ramp up to portal2, Source2 has been spotted in the Alien Swarm version of the engine which allowed tand had hidden he Cascading Shadow Mapping of CS:GO, and was able to run biohazards Deferred Renderer. Valve now have they own deferred render up and runnin in dota2, thanks to the source2 alien-swarm branch that l4d2, portal2, cs:go, and dotat2 sit on. Source2 is much further along than you'd think, and they started work on the TOOLS for Source2 after portal2 and sunk in as many devs into that project as they would on a Tripple A title during crunch mode (I can dig up the links). Ep3 has had content and has been in planning stages since the start of the episodic trilogy parts even turned up in ep2) they were that close to being done. So engine, content, story pretty much has been worked on for the last 5 years, I think it's only the last 2 that they pulled they fingers out with cohesive idea of what they were going to do. It's closey than you think, much closer.
