Episode 1 won't load or will crash

So I was playing Ep1 earlier and all was fine and now I went back to it and it would not load anything. I validated the files and it updated something and then I validated Ep1 (the now categorized tool one) and it reacquired 10 files (which I think were saves). But my save file only loads on the standard non anniversary version of Ep1 and not on the updated one. It doesn't even load when I start a new game on the chapter.

Edit: I verified the files again and it said the same thing just like it did when I verified Ep1 itself "10 files failed to validate."

Edit 2: Yeah I'm pretty sure the game is deleting its own files each time I try to play Ep1 and no it isn't caused by an anti-virus because I already checked it's quarantine.

Edit 3: Just tested everything again and Ep2 launches no problem and can load maps but Ep1 can't at all. The legacy version of Ep1 has no problems at all, only the anniversary one does so this is definitely a bug with the new version.

Edit 4: So I just found out how to fix it but however this will most likely occur again because just like with HL1 anniversary there is a glitch in it that only fixes itself once you restart your PC (the HL1 glitch would remove your cursor in menus and not have it be visible and remains unfixed.) But with this game its deleting its own files and will only actually fix itself once you restart it.

rip, happening to me but with ep2 on the first level and restarting didnt work

it keeps crashing and also keeps failing to validate 10 files, as if its deleting the files at launch

Yeah what fixed it for me was just restarting my PC like I said. I think I did that after I validated it. Crazy on how an update can make a game delete its own files.

Try to take out the mods if you have any, it fixed my issue
