Controller Problems
Hi guys, I'm trying to play Grim Dawn via controller, and for the most part it kinda works.
Unfortunately, when i get into the menu, all the buttons doesn't work, hence I am not able to swap skills or do anything in the menu, thus rendering it unplayable.

Is there something I'm overlooking here? Or is this a problem and if there's a fix, can someone point me to the right direction please? Thank you

what controller are you using
what program are you using for your controller, ie are you using something outside the game like ds4 for windows if a playstation controller or using steam config/controller profiles or something else?
with the ingame controller box/option correctly selected (steam gamepad or non-steam gamepad), and without no outside interference, it should work out the box for xbox controllers or steamgamepad

I use a Xbox or PS4 controller on my laptop. Works fine for me. After the initial setup in the options menu to sync. Should work spiffy!

I'm using a ps4 controller, using Steam Input i guess. No ds4 or anything else. I did try some community layout and the official one, but both have the same problem, no respond on the UI section.

Was there an option to "sync"? What option was that?
Just a thought but try checking in game to use a controller...this sliped me up when first playing.
Hmm, I'm still having problems in the UI, all buttons doesn't register when opening the UI. Im using a PS4 controller by the way. 1920x1080 165hz
I also don't find any solutions on the web as for now, do anyone know of one that I might have missed?

I have checked the option settings, and there is really nothing i should/shouldn't toggle, the non-steam controller box is already ticked.
did you rebind something in steam config/controlelr profile that's then interfering with the ingame binds?
or tried setting custom binds via the steam controller profile?
it's been a hot minute, but as i recall, when you open the menu/inventory, you navigate the taps with the bumpers? or use the stick as "mouse"

only other thing that comes to mind with controller interfering was someone that had the wireless connection turning off, but i'm guessing that doesn't make much sense here since it's partial function and works the rest of the time?

i did not rebind anything, i tried both the devs layout and other community layouts, the problem persists.
Yes, supposedly when i open the menu, i should be able to navigate with bumpers, but all the buttons and bumpers stop working once i open the menu, all i can do is press the menu button again to close it.
I'm also playing with controller connected. I think the devs shouldn't have done a separate keybind between mouse and controller, cos I thought I could do it with just binding with the mouse and playing with controller, but turns out no.
What is bind with mouse will change when you activate the controller.
i mean.. it works (and makes kinda sense)
you are having a local issue because something on your system/controller is doing something "out of the norm" - as you can see by other comments made their controller works, so it's not like a design flaw preventing your controls from working
Alright, just to update on the problems and solutions.

I somehow manage to get it to work using my PS4 controller, and that is, you MUST disable steam input on Grim Dawn settings, and you gotta toggle DS4 windows for it to work.

Now I can finally set the skills and interact with the menus, although there is a slight disappointment that I cannot use the custom controller layouts that is provided by the community, but at least it's now playable.

I am not sure what are the controllers that I can use so that I can utilize the ones available in the community, if anyone know, please let me know :)

EDIT: Solved!! A small issue but often overlooked! So it turns out that you can use Steam Input and the custom layouts, but IMPORTANT!
At the top of your controller layout, there is usually "Playstation Layout" and "Xinput Layout", you MUST select the "Xinput Layout", otherwise it wont work.
So that's about it, no need for DS4windows or anything.
