Nobody "earned" this.
It was our tongue-in-cheek acknowledgement and commemoration of the community driven PVP tournaments that ran over the summer. Both of the winners had their exact builds and equipment added as mini-bosses along with a medal that should make any future PVP endeavors more interesting.
We enjoyed the tournaments and seems the community did too, so this was our way of saying "keep it up!"
Downside is he will be able to chase you a long way over the map, but if they had a small area further back in the pit then it is a player's decision whether to aggro him and the hurt it may cause to you and everyone else lol.
I do wish we had more tactical options/flexibility on using kiting/luring to cause mayhem between opposing factions, it is not something that is done heavily in any arpg.
You need to be at the gate unless you use a taunt skill I was standing here for a about a minute and didn't trigger the boss.... well I triggered him from a far way using war cry but that's the exception.

edit:
Also having a bit further back with say more blood and bodies around him may help players realise he is a lot stronger than Boris.
20% of the time both will spawn
You can stand at the same spot but it's random how their aggro is triggered sometimes they are closer than the picture and don't trigger. I had 4 runs where they both ran across the back pit while I was at the gate and no taunt skills were used.
If you are walking past the area normally you won't trigger the boss.
We have one of developers as a nemesis. Also, Gogo the Chaotic Melon.
I've only done it a handful of times so not sure if it is consistent or if they mill about like what Boris did prior to gaining a brawl buddy.
The point I want to make that you have to going towards the pit to aggro them if you go the normal route from the rift to the hideout entrance you won't trigger their aggro.
My post was for those who may wish to try and take the new champions on but do not want to engage them both at the same time if they spawn together.
Also, there is a third champion that can spawn: Acedian Aldric a mage of sorts that seems to primarily deal electrical damage.

With 2970DA Conj and 17.5K health (fine for Iron Maiden) he was able to take me down to around 6K in 2 seconds and the DoT taken it down even more, without kiting would be dead next hit.
I have faced Iron Maiden 4 times now in SR and not experienced same constant near death heatbeat for the Conj.
The weakness for my char was 40% stun resist but still surprising how quickly it was cutting the Health down relative to Iron Maiden (and to be able to handle her your res/defence needs to be pretty reasonable).
I got a feeling you are possibly using good but not BiS so same as the rest of us, but can you clarify what items were on your char?
Thanks
and by the looks of it, i'd guess Faust is using his spellbinder build from this post
