Antichamber
DLC or Sequel Please!
I was just looking for some news of DLC or a sequel but haven't found any. Antichamber is definitely in my top 10 fav games of all time.

I recently completed it for the second time and now I'm going through cube gun withdrawl again. :(

I'd love to buy some DLC. For example, something really cool involving the pink cubes or a continuation after the ending.

A sequel would be awesome.

Thanks!

As much as a sequel would be great, you'll have to understand two things before trying to request one.
1. A sequel doesn't fit the theme of Antichamber. "Antichamber is a big metaphor for life," as the dev said in an interview, and life, just like Antichamber, has an end with no continuation beyond the end (the game closes itself).
2. It took the dev 7 years to make Antichamber, as shown in one of the Dev Rooms, 2006-2013. It will be a long time for any extension or sequel, if any.

As for DLC specifically, sure it'd be cool to add more to the game, but I believe using DLC is the wrong way to do so. Any "DLC" would most likely involve the pink cubes, but if you didn't know, two of the 15 total pink cubes in the game are completely unobtainable without using glitches or console commands and one of the 15 is missable (if you pass a certain progression point, the area is sealed off). This means it is only possible to obtain 12 of the pink cubes from any random progression point in the game (the missable one is fairly early, before blue gun).

Instead of DLC, it should instead be a standard patch/update to the game to fix the pink cubes as well as give them a purpose. The purpose would most likely be to open the "Under Construction" door, since there's probably going to be another Dev Room there eventually.

If you'd like to play the game a lot more and still be interested in it, there is an Antichamber speedrunning community that you could join and participate in. The runs themselves may look intimidating and difficult to perform, but the community has some great tutorials and route walkthrough videos for beginners to speedrunning. If you're interested in this at all, here is a link to the Antichamber speedrunning leaderboards[docs.google.com]; you can watch the run videos by clicking on the times, and the walkthrough videos are on the Route Tutorial Links tab at the top.

Thanks for your response.

Well, too late, I already did :)

> A sequel doesn't fit the theme of Antichamber.
I can see why you'd say that, so then I'd like to buy a sequel with a different story angle, if it makes you feel better. What I love about this game is its abstract gameplay, atmosphere, unique and challenging puzzles, and of course cube guns. The "story" can evolve into something else and I'd be perfectly happy with that.

> life, just like Antichamber, has an end.
Fine. To put it in your terms, think of it as reproduction. It's like giving birth to a new Antichamber. Life part II.

> It will be a long time for any extension or sequel, if any.
The first game nay take a very long time, but not a sequel that reuses lots of the code and techniques. And now that they know for sure there's an audience who pays, a sequel should take much less time! (Though not released prematurely, I just mean much less than 7 years.)

At least we agree on the DLC. A simple update for pink cubes would be great too, but I'd certaily be willing to pay for something a bit more substantial in a DLC than simply another dev room. (Although I liked most of the dev rooms, there's one in particular that I ran into my first time through the game and I wasted at least an hour screwing around trying to figure it out only to discover that it was a dead end. I wonder if you can guess which room I'm referring to?

Thanks, I appreciate the info; however, I'm much more of a casual player. I really prefer to take my time when I play games. I'im very slow :)
The dev abandoned this project. Ages ago he claimed to have bug fixes coming out and adding stuff to several empty rooms in the game - plus making it possible to get all of the 'purple cubes' and giving them a purpose but it never came.

He also never further commented on to why it never came. It was a great title -- but I wanted the 100% of what was already in the game.

What a shame.
So I guess the dev's not active in this forum at all? Was he ever?

He's only ever said things that he's wanted to potentially do. None of it was bug fixes or claims of updates, just potential changes that he liked the idea of. He's not commented on anything else recently because he was busy writing two speeches for GDC, and he now doesn't like to watch others play the game because of how anxious he gets just waiting for the game to bug out. {Ref1} {Ref2}

He's not active in here anymore, although he was upon release. If you'd like to contact him though, http://twitter.com/demruth or alex@demruth.com

I agree with TC that it's an all time awesome game (I even have the symbol in my gaming sleeve), but it's so inspired that it would be extremely difficult to just churn out a sequel without either copy/pasting the first game or loosing the wit and philosophy which makes AC so amazing.

Although it would be nice if he finished of those last few bits to make the game 100%.
