Don't Starve: Can't select character/customise world, please help!

Hello! I have a problem with Don't Starve. It worked fine for ages, but now it won't let me select a character (just brings me back to the game setup menu).

On top of that, when I want to change some parts of the world, a popup comes up saying that I have too many custom presets, and that I have to overwrite one, The pop-up keeps coming up even when I've already overwritten one of the presets and even when I press "cancel", so I have to close the entire game because I can't get back to the main menu.

Basically, I can only start a new game with Wilson and I'm not able to customise the world, which is a bit of a nuisance. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem and how I might be able to solve it?

I've already tried verifying the integrity of the game cache, but that hasn't done anything. I've also uninstalled all the mods I had installed, plus deleted the local content and reinstalled the game. None of these things have worked.

I have a similar issue.

Whenever I try to use a character other than wilson or try to modify a game setting, the game crashes with this "warning" screen:

I've only been playing the game for a couple weeks, so this really sucks.

I've spoken directly to some people from Klei support, they didn't know how to solve my problem and suggested I download the standalone version of the game, which works perfectly. I suggest you email them as well, because they might have a solution for your problem! Their email address is [e-mail]. Good luck!

I am having the same issue! I am a complete newbie and I can't play any other character then Wilson and have no fun with world settings
