I'm torn between the two too, but I know I just need one to tide me over until DayZ standalone

Yeah, thats sort of how I felt. I played the Chivalry source mod and had a blast with it, this one just doesnt seem as clean. Still havent made my descision yet though.

First off, two different genres

Second, natural selection 2 is better, will last longer, and has extreme developer support but it's not your pick up and play call of duty/crapplefield, you'll take a little bit of a while to learn the game mechanics and meta before you can really start playing/enjoying it

Chivalry. NS2 was on the brink of death before the sale. I could get 3-4 servers with less than 100 ping most nights, while I could get a couple dozen on Chiv. (Living in central US.) Considering their player retention after the last free weekend, it will probably go back to that. Not to mention the developer's singleminded focus on 6v6 play despite the fact that nearly every active server is 20 slot or higher.

TS is comparing apples to pears but for me personally NS2 is a way better game.
NS2 has bad netcode but hit detection is still pretty good considering the speed aliens move about. NS2 also has better gameplay and more variety and depth.
Unreal's netcode is ultra garbage and it reflects in Chivalry. Despite the very slow pace you still see swings go straight through your targets and you end up getting hit through your block. The randomness of it kills skill and strategy of parries and feints and such. Also developers who fail to get achievements working right worry me deeply.

NS2 is better imo, but very hard to get a game going due to long loading times, long games, and difficulty finding a server with open slots.

If you have friends to play with and time on your hands, NS2. If not, Chivalry.

I've played it and I can tell you even once the alpha has released you are going to have a long wait for anything actually fun.

Chivarly = Short, Quick fun. NS2 = Longer time but more rewarding. I can usually play Chivalry for 30 mins - 1 hour and call it a day but NS2 requires a good few hours to get a few solid rounds in. I'd say get both! Disclaimer: NS2 has a steeper learning curve.

yeah I've played both games on free weekend and I can say that I enjoyed Chivalry much more than NS2. Chivalry feels like counter-strike but with swords and bows. It's fast pace and everytime I land a swing it feels rewarding because I can feel the impact when it slashes my enemies.

played both, but personally i would go with ns2

Thanks EZ! Getting NS 2.
I already spent the majority of my cash on Borderlands 2 and got $10 left in my VG budget for this month. Wish both games were on sale till the first, so that I could persuade my wife that it's a new month.

Lol paying mortgage really, really sucks. I sometimes miss renting a cheap 2 bedroom and having hundreds of bucks to spend on games per month.

You can't possibly compare NS2 to a FPS...

Then why don't you rent a cheap bedroom then? Oh right you're married lol.

Chivalry has very spar features compared to NS2, NS2 has a lot more depth. I think that they're both great experiences though I heavily favor NS2 if I have to pick sides.
