Can anyone explain the packs to me like I am 5?

I am wondering which of the DLC packs are benneficial to me in any way, and what they do.

They are not beneficial.

Long story short, don't buy anything with your money unless you are enjoying the game and want to help support the devs.

That said, I bought the starter pack, all the color variation packs, and the eternal renown boost.

Basically, the game only matches you up against opponents who have the same level of units as you do. So if you buy advanced units (as in the starter pack, for example), you're only going to be able to use them against others that also have comparable units. The difference is that you will lose, because you don't know how to use them yet.
