Total PC Lockup?

I bought the GOG version but like these forums better. Anyways so far the game is amazing love it however, sometimes when playing it just completely freezes my entire computer, no blue screen or anything the sounds goes errrrrrrrr etc and i have to do a hard reset. What could be causing this? It is literally the only game that has done this to me ever. Also sometimes it ill freeze and say this game has stopped responding and will just close which i am more ok with but this game does hard freezes on Cleankill or w/e the level is called and then on the level with the club when i go upstairs for the room on the right. Those are the two levels i cannot complete due to this error.

This has been happening to me too. I've had this happen to me before in rare occurrences, but in my 2-3 hours of playing Hotline Miami it's happened around 4 or 5 times. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Same here, and it's fairly frequent. The sound slows down, screen goes black and the computer freezes. Did a fresh install today and it still happens. :(

ya i had this happen about 4 times before skipping the levels it occured on and right now im just waiting for an update so i can play again without fear

I've been having this too since it's almost certainly a graphics or sound driver issue, i use a ATI 6950 with the latest 12.10 catalyst drivers and my onboard sound chip is a via envy hd audio codec version VT2021 package version 10.5.00.30 driver version 6.0.1.10500 on a fully patched windows 7 x64 will prolly try later with with new beta 12.11 drivers and no audio and post back here later.

I'm running on a Radeon 6990, with the 12.11 beta drivers. Sound is Creative X-Fi. Win 8 x64 now, but was freezing on Win 7 two days ago as well.

it was fine for a few hours, but now I had 3-4 total lockups right after eachother.

after rebooting the system it shows it did have a BSOD, but I can't find the log / dump files >_<

Happened to me too -- glad to know I'm not alone, because I was terrified it was something wrong with my computer. W7 64, Nvidia GTX 570, intel i5.

Happened to me first time tonight (Trauma level groundfloor ;_;).
Today I played several hours and nothing happened.

So it appears it's not AMD specific then?

I went into event viewer and think I've found the BSOD message, though I'm not sure this log was from the game lockup or me resetting the pc as a result.

Using AMD here too... HD 6990. I was using the 12.9 drivers when it was freezing, but I just installed 12.10... which has caused me to lose all progress and now it won't let me choose a mask, which means I cant play the game at all now.

There might be a physical save file in the game installation directory which you could copy and carry over in a fresh install. Not sure tho.

Except for 1 card it seems to be a 69xx problem, updating my drivers did nothing to fix it which was expected since it seems to be happening regardless of which driver is installed

My mate runs 12.6 drivers and he's never had a lock up i've been running it for a while now & it's not happened yet, will report back if it happens
