A subscription to access all DLCs, really?
Is that how you're going back to the game after Payday 3's not so much successful history? Damn, you folks just keep surprising me. I can't see it not causing a discourse considering your track record.

Edit: After giving it some thought, I can only see it viable if one wants to have a taste of whatever DLC they're missing and decide if they want to buy it permanently. Other than that, it's just another case of subscription services becoming more commonplace as the costs of everything are increasing worldwide.

Admittedly, I read this and thought "Did OP take some of Jimmy's good stuff?" but then I saw the subscription.

Good god, I don't think anything can justify this in the slightest. Besides, we're already in a world with way too much subscription slop; and I highly doubt anyone would genuinely want to pay for this. Especially when the Infamous and Legacy collections can ensure you have some DLC without being sub-locked.

I hope they don‘t add exclusive stuff to the subscription model :(
You can really tell the new CEO was an ex-EA exec
Personally getting back into the game right now, and not having any DLCs it's more cost effective for me to just grab the subscription for a month or two whenever I get back into playing every so often. Personal pref tho
surprised me as well honestly, but hey at least new players have a cheap option to try the dlc before they buy.

as a side note, i have no idea why everyone's comments are being stuck under the content check nor can i fix that

Yeah, that's the only way I can justify the subscription. Getting a taste of DLCs and deciding if you want to buy them or not.

I said "discourse" because I meant that there have been so many subscription services emerging recently, and considering the rising cost of living in the world people don't take it kindly.

Yeah, I too am confused by this.

Confused, yet somehow not surprised by their decision to add a subscription service to the game

in a weird way, I kind of expected it. when you're a game dev struggling to make money, you'd do anything to monetize the ♥♥♥♥ out of your game for that dosh

This comment is awaiting analysis by our automated content check system. It will be temporarily hidden until we verify that it does not contain harmful content (e.g. links to websites that attempt to steal information).
I mean it's undeniably good value if you're missing many or a few DLCs and just want the chance to experience them for a bit.

Subscription models are definitely not for me, I would much rather just buy it outright and never have to think about getting that specific thing again, but I'm sure some people will get use out of it.

it's important to remember that you can still individually purchase them all like before. a subscription to the whole package is not the worst idea to come to this game.

a fresh new player with no DLC might appreciate a cheap way to access all of them (there are a dizzying amount to choose from!) before committing to the purchase of an individual pack. i imagine you can even unlock the many achievements that new players have to grind through just to get basic access to ♥♥♥♥ in their loadout. seriously, hit ctrl+F on the achievements list and just see how many results there are for "unlock." this could be seriously useful for the basegame players who want to see if Grinder or Anarchist are worth permanently owning Sokol or Sydney.

i think spending that much annually on payday 2 is a bad idea, but getting a month or two to test what you actually want to try before buying it isn't.

True, people can buy the subscription for achievements and then just forget about it once they have accomplished everything in the game.
the only thing that worries me about this addition is that the ultra-discount sales that come to the DLCs every few months, might be a bit less ultra going forward. and, on a technical level, i can already see all the licensing and ownership errors that a subscription player is gonna have to deal with, because this game is already held together with saran wrap and bubblegum, and this subscription is asking it to balance a glass of water on its head. but other than that...
not even ALL considering several were removed due to licensing or limited time reasons, how fun.

Well, that's just how copyright laws work. They can't legally sell them, or they'd have to pay a lot of money to the IP owners and legal things.
