crime spree
I can't start the game without downloading the update, does that mean i can't cash out anymore? ...
Edit:

But doesn't really matter anymore, I'll just look into the other discussions which I skipped over for some reason and try to start the game offline.

Would be nice if a mod could lock/delete this, looking at it again the original post sounds kind of dumb

They announced that the update would wipe crime spree progress about a week ago.

I just started playing again yesterday. I spent over 200 coins figuring out this backwards crime spree system. The next morning they wipe my progress and now I have to pay 67 coins to start again? What a ♥♥♥♥ing rip. Welcom back to the game from the devs.

Having this same problem, I'm backing up my pd2 folder, then going to update then swap back the old version. Think that'll probably let me cash out. I thought I'd be fine just launching the exe directly to cash out since I have auto-update disabled, but I did not expect this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t.

I'm certainly no expert but I'm pretty sure that that'll crash your game

Why would it? The old version ran fine before, and if steam thinks it updated I don't see why it wouldn't let it run as if it was the current version.

Well there is a way actually, just going to copy paste it from an older thread.

0. Make sure to have steam closed before you begin and just to be safe go into your downloads tab in steam, pause and delete the update for the game you want to play

1. Go into your steamapps folder, you should see a bunch of .ACF files labelled 'steammanifest_(the game id number here)'

2. Locate the ACF file for your game, you should be able to identify it by googling '[game name] steam id', or simply opening it up in a text editor like notepad and looking at the text after "name"

3. Once you've found the relevant ACF file open it up in a text editor simply change the number after "StateFlags" to 4

4. Now change the number after "UpdateResult" to 0

5. Open Steam in offline mode and your game should now be playable, enjoy!

Just keep in mind that you'll likely have to repeat this process if you open Steam in online mode at some point. If you don't want this to happen go into the properties window for your game, go to the updates tab and change the 'automatic updates' option to 'don't automatically update this game'.

fyi to anyone reading this, backing up the game files, updating, then swapping back to the backup worked fine and I got cashed out.
what does the update even do?
