PAYDAY 2 Really Low CPU Usage
Hello everyone. Recently I've been playing payday 2 a lot. But im having some fps issues. I checked task manager to see if anything was wrong and the cpu usage is only 8-13%.

Here are my specs:
i76500u
8gb ram
geforce 940mx

I don't know much about computers so if any other info is needed about my gaming notebook, tell me and I'll post it.

Thanks in advance.

What fps issues?

It's more of a GPU problem than a CPU one... plus most games don't really use that much cpu power (unless the game is cpu intensive which payday 2 isn't). I usually get 30-45% cpu usage in this game and it's not really a problem, it's more problematic if the game gets 100% cpu usage.

Oh ok. I thought 10% was really low.

I barely get 60 fps on 1280x720 with low settings.

Short answer: get a better GPU

Long answer: Your GPU isn't good enough to handle some parts of the game. If it's recent, it's probably due to new maps containing more things to render. There's also some badly optimized areas in old maps, and less commonly in new maps (I drop to 20 FPS on Diamond Store for absolutely no reason). Best solution is to either turn down your settings or get a better GPU.

When i lower my settings, i only get higher fps in main menu. I dont get more in maps :/

"really low" is due to high number of cores. On my 6-core 1 high-usage thread results in 8% load (100/12threads) So this means the software doesn't need all of your cores.

Oh. Mine is quad. So low cpu usage is normal?

I have i5 7200U and 940MX and 60 fps on high 1366x768.

Wow. Am i just unlucky? I have a feeling like my notebook doesnt use much power.

Maybe it's set to power saving?

if no HT 1 core=100/4=25%, with HT - 12,5%
Windows tends to switch the task between the cores resulting in visual "25% of each core is busy and lower temps overall, unless you set CPU affinity for a task (dedicate certain cores to it).
If you see it and something goes slow = you need faster CPU as the software can't use multiple cores.

Do you have your laptop plugged in? You need to plug it in if you don't.

Make sure the game is not running on the Intel GPU if it has one.
