It is $5 for a pack that contains many cosmetics. It is the least egregious cosmetic micro-transaction system in gaming, it is less than a dollar per chapter included in the first cosmetic pack. They have to get money for continued development for the free content drops (maps and weapons) somehow, or do you want them to work for free?
Bro, they're a multi million corporation, not some street performer. This isn't like a small indie dev that would be much more affected by monetary concerns. They also sold 4.5 million copies which eclipses their dev costs by several fold so they're more than good on money for multiple years. Very tired of this basic ♥♥♥♥♥ argument of "It's just cosmetics, they can't work for free." Disregard all the indie studios that do just fine in comparison and don't nickel and dime for cosmetic kits. They sell only cosmetics because if they dared to paywall anything else we'd rip their heads off and put them on spikes outside of the studio. Other studious have tested those waters and failed miserably, mostly EA.
There are 24 chapters that come with the base game. The cosmetic pack adds another 13 that is like 38 cents per chapter.
I have already stated if it cost more then no, no I am not willing to pay it. $5 is the absolute most I am willing to pay for a cosmetic pack and that is only assuming it isn't a single item. Other games would have charged $15 for it. You know it, I know it, now stop pretending like this is a bigger deal than it is.
for example, Larian studios. games like baldurs gate 3 used to be the rule, not the exception .
Right now, these companies marketing departments have a bunch of accountants that drive the 'monetization of the brand', they have no interest in giving you value for money, or exceeding your expectations.
this game is proof of that, it neither exceeds expectations nor gives you value. (im saying that because although i enjoy the game, its not even close to what it could, or should, be for the base price of 60 bucks)
pay for cosmetics is a thing, and it makes companies money, because even if only 20% of the players buy 'macragges chosen' with 3 cosmetics, it doesnt matter, its all pure profit..
why people feel like they should defend a company is ridiculous to me, they know exactly what there doing, its the call of duty gameplan.
there really is no excuse they dont have 3 times the chapter markings, imperial squad numbers and unit markings that they currently have, except the plan to wring as much cash out of the fan as possible.
Yes, i agree with the OP, Lamenters would be cool.
You want the product, pay for the product. You don't want it, don't pay for it. Simple as.
Like I said, $5 is agood price considering who it is coming from. I don't really care that $60 is indeed too much for the base game because more maps, ops, and weapons will be coming for free.
If the next cosmetic pack is $5 I will see what is in it and if it is stuff I want I'll buy it, if not or there is less stuff than this time I won't. It isn't that complicated. I'm not a huge Dark Angels fan so I certainly won't get whatever customization armor pack they put out along side the colors and emblems pack.
Besides, you can already just mod your way past the paywall. The option to get the paid cosmetics for free is there, you just have to learn how to mod the game. Tell yourself you are protesting if it makes you feel better about it.
