Warning for potential linux and keyboard users
Using a PS3 controller in game in Linux is not an option. This wouldn't be such a problem if it let you set which keyboard bindings you want to use. The default setup isn't very intuitive and requires two hands.
There is also a seperate key bound for jumping and jumping on jump pads. I have found no situations in the game where having both bound seperately can be advantageous. It's just another key to have to memorize.
Going through the loop also requires you to repeatedly press the space bar to receive points. This task is tedious and mundane and doesn't contribute to the game experience except for compromising the integrity of your keyboard's space bar.
On a side note: You have to press the space bar key after a loading screen finishes. The loading screen animation doesn't stop and the continue button to close the loading screen pops up in the bottom right corner so the user doesn't immediately realize the loading is done. (Why should you have to press a key to close the loading menu anyways?)

The game itself otherwise runs quite well in Linux, but I have no motivation to play it with all the previous mentioned quirks. Thank you for informing yourself on these issues before spending your money as well.

That's a shame. So many games without gamepad support on linux. Even emulators have done this for years. I have no interest in playing this kind of game on a keyboard.

Xbox 360 gamepad works perfect on Linux :)

WASD + JK are the best way to play this and Runner 1 imo, puts every button you need right at your fingertips. Also I think by space it just means jump, which is also mapped to J, works on Windows at least.

I don't used a qwerty keyboard though. WASD aren't next to each other for me. I still don't like the layout even if I go into settings and change my keyboard layout to English qwerty because I think the jump, slide and other buttons should be next to the WASD or whatever you use so you can press them with the same hand. Giving users the option to assign keys is a pretty easy feature to add in games and should be a standard feature.

It's definitely a pain, in place of a solution from the devs: is there an alternative to VJoy for linux maybe? My googlefu is telling me not, but that's a great windows workaround for keymapping in games that recognise 360 pads, if that's any consolation at all (guessing it isn't).

Just use a 360 controller and get Windows 7 or 8.

you can still use AHK soft to rebind keys (even on mouse)

Actually its not a problem using a PS3 controller in linux, it works fine for me atleast, just plug in and start gaming.
