Got a Dark Souls code instead of Dead Island Riptide in your box? Read this.

Update: We've worked with Steam to resolve this issue. If you are getting your retail copy of Dead Island Riptide today, the code will work properly. If you had redeemed it and received Dark Souls instead, please contact Steam support. They are aware of the issue and will make sure the correct game will be attached to your account.

It seems that codes for Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition have made their way into Dead Island Riptide retail boxes in some countries.

To the best of my knowledge, this issue would affect retail copies in the United Kingdom and Nordic countries.

Now, Dark Souls is an amazing game, but you probably bought Dead Island Riptide to play Dead Island Riptide! For those of you who don't know this, Dark Souls is also not a Deep Silver game.

We are aware of this mixup by whoever printed these codes for a completely different game from a different publisher, and are working on a best possible solution to help affected players and retailers.

I'll update this post as soon as I get more details, and I hope a solution can be found that will not require any action on your part.

Obvious solution: combine them. Dead Souls, or Dark Island -- either way, that would be pretty neat. Can you imagine Dark Souls gameplay in the Dead Island world? Those boss battles, man. Dead Zones could never be deader and darker than that.

I have this problem also, I want Riptide not this stupid Dark Souls game!!!!!!!

I pre-ordered mine from Game.co.uk even one of the bonus content codes is invalid. What a botched launch, I better not have to buy the game again, Deep Silver/Steam........

Issue was solved overnight. Redeemed the code and got Dark Souls? Contact Steam support and they'll fix it for you.

Dark Souls is a much far better game. be grateful that whoever was working at wherever you purchased your game has a good taste in games.
