Seafood full course still 2 points ?
At Wakatsu kitchen, you can initially eat the prodigy platter, that gives you 2 points in Academics.
But there's also the Seafood Full Course. It's more expensive, and you need minimum 3 in Charm to order it.
I finally unlocked and tried it and it gave me ... 2 points in Academics :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

Seems weird. Does the game actually has values you can't see (ie. does it actually give 2.5) ? Are the dev trolling ? Is it an oversight? Does it randomly give 2-3 ?

I was already confused by the arcade game for Academics costing 2000 or 3000 yens and only giving 2 points too.

Probably no hidden stats, just lazy approach. I could've understand if some activity was available on specific days. but all of them always available. But again, what should've I expected from senile people who put soundtrack in the steam application.
Happy to see someone already posted this question. I was about to do so myself.

It doesn't make any sense, it makes me think that it's either a bug, or maybe the amount of points is different even if we see 2 music notes for both dishes. Even if it's the later, it would be confusing as hell for the player and definitely a bad design choice.

I hope someone can give us clarity on this issue.
The number of notes that appear isn't the amount of points you get, and it can vary.

For example, even if different activities give 2 notes, they can give varying amounts of social stat gain. Even if seafood full course and prodigy platter both give you 2 notes, the seafood full course still gives you more stat gain.

Think of it as tiers, 2 notes are better than 1 note, but some 2 notes are better than other 2 notes.

If I had to guess, the stat-locked food gives the highest gain, followed by the arcade game, followed by the normal food.

I feel like there may be note differences too, like visually I feel like some look like more solid colors or are a tiny bit thicker. Is that just me?

Is it your observation or did you read it somewhere? Maybe I should just use CE to find stat value and see the increase in those 2 cases

Ooh, thanks for the concrete numbers. I knew that there were differences, but it's nice to have the stats. I'd imagine the stat-locked food is probably around 4.

As far as I know the way the notes work is that:

1 note: +2
2 notes: 2-4
3 notes: 5+

Yes, so that's make my "lazy approach" idea false. Though I wish that they've at least shown us the numbers when the circle is ticking, if they couldn't put more notes a top on your head
Thanks for the info, guys!

Knowing what you just said about the points, I definitely feel like the note system is flawed. As a player, it's natural to feel confused. You see TWO notes and then the circle hits TWO times, it's only natural to think that this is equivalent to TWO points.
When a system forces the player to deep dive into the internet to find how a system really works, I can't help but think that's unnecessary bad design.

Anyways, that's enough criticism for now lol back to farming money so I can afford that Seafood special dish so I can get my extra ghost points :P5R_Akechi:
Thanks again for the responses and clarification ♥

It's the way it worked in the original, and the way it worked in P5, I can't see them having changed it.
Thing to note is your attributes (and for that matter s-links) are tracked on a numeric value, and those values are unique to that attribute. In the original P3 for example Courage tops out at 80, while Academics requires you accumulate 260 points to max out.
Usually each note displayed corresponds to 5 points gained, with three notes being the maximum (though 15 points isn't the maximum you could gain from a single activity, it's just the most notes it will display). That can however change - for example when you have a matching persona on a social link each note is worth 7 rather than 5 points. At a guess the same is likely true of the meals, the basic prodigy platter is giving you 10 points (5 per note), while the full seafood platter grants 14 (7 per note). Atlus do like to re-use their modifiers ...

It's intentional. Stat and S-link boosts are entirely deterministic, if they weren't obfuscated in some way it'd be quite possible to plan out the optimal schedule to max out all stats and social links from the start of the game.
I've checked few things just for referrence

Like there's mods for P5R (and P4G I believe) that puts the hidden numerical value of each of your Stats next to the name on each point of the star when you go to check how close you are to ranking up a stat, and there's walkthroughs for P5R that guide you to optimise your stats growth day-by-day on a monthly level (even down to which Aojiru will be available on a certain day and the stat boost it'll give, provided you've been following the guide and kept up on getting the Aojiru every Sunday).

Yep, and I've no doubt there'll be optimal schedules available for P3R within the next few days, if there isn't already. At that point though if it ruins your experience you've no one to blame but yourself :P
Bear in mind Atlus aren't expecting you to do a perfect run on the first attempt; there's a reason they put a bunch of new stuff into NG+.

Huh? What new did they put in NG+?

You missed donating at the shrine for Academics (10,000 yen) and IIRC it gives 4-5 points
