Frame Skips?

I haven't played maple story in quite a long time, albeit I have no idea exactly how long.
I recently got the urge to play it and updated the game with the new patch.
But after doing so, and logging onto the game world in a new character, I was getting horrible frame skips, whereas, the game would freeze temporarily for about 2-4 seconds, but sound would still play. Is anyone else having this problem, and or no how to fix it? If so, please say so! Thank you.

I tried logging into an old character, and several other characters, and even made a new account, and I still get these frame skips.

It seems that these frame skips happen only either in starting areas, or it goes away if you keep playing long enough and whether the storm.
Strange. Also a note worthy tid-bit, this has never happened before untill now.

This happens to me (very rarely) on my main computer, and quite commonly on my older laptop. My guess is, the older your computer is, the more chance you have of getting frame skips right when the game loads.
