Buyer's Guide to The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing
I just wanted to write this for you who are thinking about buying this game. First of all, if you only wish to play multiplayer, look around the forums first. You'll see it has problems.

With that said, this game is truly great when experienced solo. Katarina, your companion, who also has customisable skills and abilities, acts like she should (most of the time) and she's a great addition to the game. The skill trees are a bit lacking if you're used to for example Diablo 2's, but they're still fun to play around with. The campaign lasted about 20 hours on the hardest difficulty in my case, and then there's the endgame content consisting of scenarios with tougher enemies to fight and better loot to find. I haven't run into any bugs except some minor stuttering and the game works well overall.

It just so happens that Valve decided to put TL2 on sale at the same time as this and because of that, I have to say I'd recommend getting TL2 instead, if you can only get one of them, because I think it's slightly better. The best thing to do however, would be to get both of them, because this game really deserves a purchase, and so does TL2.

For a "buyer's guide" you're missing what people are asking about, which is obviously the multiplayer.

I did mention that the multiplayer had issues, there are already enough of those threads. Also, I happen to know that there's a lot of people who really don't care the slightest about the multiplayer in ARPG:s.

I'm not asking about multiplayer, so I'm not sure how releveant that point or your comment are.

Instead of 'look around', can you summarize? is it functional? I have a friend that I just want to play direct co op with.

It's hard for me to talk about the multiplayer since I haven't tried it out, but from what I can gather from other people it seems like most people find it unplayable. I have only read a few posts where people actually say they haven't had problems. Therefore, I'd say it's barely functional as of this point.

Well I can clearly see why you were banned and it wasn't for no reason.
Yikes. Just Yikes!

Thankfully I'm only interested in the single-player aspect. . .
