So given its not like just this one game and has been going on for like over 5 years I cant understand why your so "annoyed" just get a 360 controller and move along 3rd party ones are not that expensive, and given you even mention and app that can convert your commands onto any other controller... I dont see what the problem is here
I have controllers that work, and I don't have any 360 controllers.
1, I own a PC, and PC should always have customizable controls because PC comes in so many configurations. It's impossible for your default controls to be comfortable for everyone and it's very easy to implement customizable controls.
2, I shouldn't have to ever buy an extraneous peripheral, especially if I already own it. (I own a controller; why do I need to buy a controller with exactly the same number of buttons and axes and the same connections?)
3, it's not a matter of "two clicks and your controller works like a 360". It only took thirty minutes to get my controller working with this game, instead of the hour it took with the last one, but that's still just silly.
Crap.
I don't plan on ever buying an X-Box controller. Offset sticks, I just don't get it. Onto the next game, I guess.
So don't let the lack of proper gamepad support stop you from playing this awesome game.
and the more annoying part is that more and more games are actualy asking/commending to use the 360 controler for no reason.
this. x360 controller is default for a reason. it is popular not because greedy microsoft wants to, but because they allowed it to be used (with no ads), and people supported this. It unified console and PC experience, standardized button setup and coloured prompts (because it did it right - guide button, coloured setup with non-numeric buttons, analog triggers), all while implementing unified API, thus making it easier for people to pick up and play their games. Without configuring, memorizing button setups and such. And a lot of other manufactures picked up the trend along with the community - there is ton of controllers which act just like x360 one - there is no valid point to complain. x360ce is for controllers that are rather old, but still can be used in particular game. Gaming community is amazing - they fixed the only downside of xinput - they added backwards compatibility with old hardware. THE pc gaming community, guys who understand why. And yet some fella goes out and complain. It's all the same discussion as 'why win7?' or 'why shader model 3.0'? Because move forward, good sirs.
@BarcSsarc Did you set up to use the contrller to be used in the options menu? By default keyboard and mouse is used or player 1 (Limitation is due to being able to only use 1 controller for local co-op).
I'm sure as hell not playing with a 360 controller because, guess what? My balls have dropped.
