The Book of Unwritten Tales

The Book of Unwritten Tales

Awesome game!
I am truly in love with this game, just after some hours of gameplay!

I was too young in the era when Point and Click adventures were more popular, as with games from 'LucasArt' and so on! But even so, I like the genre and while I enjoy 'Machinarium', I think this game is just top notch! For me, it is a spiritual sucessor of 'The Secret of Monkey Island (Special Edition)', if not a better one!

If you feel like you want to buy it, I highly recommend it! A great game for a low price, in my opinion!

Glad you like this awesome game :)
Loving the game so far. I'm finding it a lot more accessible than Deponia, which had a lot of extraneous dialogue to sift through. I'm usually a bit terrible at adventure games, and I usually have to sneak peeks at walkthroughs now and then, but everything's been fairly intuitive so far.
I agree, the game is just fantastic. <3

Loved the trailers, especially the one with the mummy. I'll get to play it next week.

Looking forward to this game after reading all the comments. I love adventure games and this reminds me of toonstruck and i hope it takes me back to the old days.

Just finished this and Critter Chronicles (I did that first). I especially like the "Chekov's Gun" approach, that every object has some purpose and the interaction vanishes when there is no further use for it. Saves a lot of messing around when your logic and the game designers' logic do not overlap. It shares a few localisation issues with Deponia (the odd incorrect piece of audio or foreign subtitles at certain points) but nothing to detract from the game. The one thing I found badly thought out though was the ending. Mortroga might not have an artifact that can make her dreams come true, but thanks to the elf, she does now have an amulet that can open a portal to any point in time and space that she desires. Stupid elf. Stupid, stupid elf. :P
I'm at the end of chapter 2 I think, and I've gotta say the story is really captivating. Kinda like Broken Sword, but in a fantasy setting. The german synchronisation is marvellous and the characters are surprisingly convincing. I mean, you've gotten some seriously professional dubbing actors who're even dubbing blockbuster movies for this game.
The artwork is really beautiful, even though there are some small glitches here and there, like a few choppy animations and that beerbrewer dwarf in the dwarven fortress right at the start (forgot his name) had a weird glitch, where you could see his field of vision. Restarting the game fixed it though.
What I really liked as well as of yet, are the two minigames. First the potioncooking in the cauldron and then finding that island on the map. They felt really innovative and in place unlike the same in other P&C Adventures, where you've got to push crates or some mindless crap like that.
Im really thrilled to get to know The Critter I think he's called in english ("Das Vieh" he's called in german. Kinda made me smirk as "Vieh" isn't really a polite way to address someone who may understand it. :D). I've just now seen him on the airship, and in the trailer he seemed to be quite funny.

My thanks for the Linux port. I'm "just" using Linux, so I wouldn't even have looked at this game if there wasn't support for Linux as well.

Sorry to poop in your corn flakes, but I'd have to disagree. I played Monkey Island in the 80's, and plenty of other point and click adventures along the way, and this is probably the worst game I've ever laid my hands on. It is awfully childish trash.

Hah I was this guy yesterday. I thought this game was going to bring back the fun of adventure games in the past, man was I wrong. This was like watching Barney the purple dinosaur on LSD. It was awful.
sKaREO,

Please be reasonable. Your profile shows that you have spent 0.3 hours playing this game and you are trying to pass judgement on every post because you are upset about a purple dragon.

Double posting and unconstructive ranting are also signs that you didn't even give this game a chance and it's obvious to everyone that you are relying on colorful language to spread your opinion.

Please stop.

Feeding the trolls,
Wendersnaven

I could have programmed a better game punching holes in a roll of toilet paper. I might as well have been playing a flash game for Facebook. Waste. Of. Money.
