you know english was influenced by ancient latin, no idea what we spoke before and after the roman invasion of britain (since english is a mix of latin, saxon, german, viking, french, etc you get the point) but yeah after shogun i was expecting the languages to be the local tongue of the factions, though i must admit being british i dont mind but it would bring the feeling of authenticity abit stronger.
tired so my sentances and watnot are abit off soz

English at its core is a germanic language

In Shogun they spoke japanese with eachoter, I loved it. Really made you feel like you were commanding true Samurai. But now with current crappy formation battles and all the american accents...

It is like we are "Sort of" directing a large roleplay battle: http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01964/conquest-battle-4_1964839i.jpg

Which is horrible. I dont want my awesome Egyptian armies to yell like a bunch of americans. Or my legion to sound like some angry mob in the subway of New York..

I would at least, for the love of the gods, love to see a Roman on TV or in a game speak English with a Latin/Italian accent. Why ancient Romans always sound like British people never sat well with me.

Although, to state the obvious, nobody actually knows for sure how Latin was pronounced, as it has survived in writing only.

I know! and look as dishonoured! they would have a ENTIRELY different language as its not earth england, why can I understand them? It would be more realistic if you had no idea what anybody ever said.

And why is all the text in english! it should all be in the language of the nation it is! Hate being able to understand what I'm building without a degree in ancient languages!!.

I'll never forget the first ever question of my final Cambridge interview: "can you please compare the grammatical structure of modern English with middle german". fml.

Don´t be a fool. They dont say the UI or Tooltips etc should in in an ancient language.

P.S. English is a Germanic language. English and German evolved from an original ancestor language which originated in northern Germany/Denmark area which wasn't quite Old English but became it shortly after the Angles and other groups from Germany/Denmark migrated. English has a very complex history with influences from virually everywhere in Europe as well as native America (think tomato, etc.), but later on obviously. English however, most certainly did not "come from Latin" or anything remotely like that.

I could live with an Italian accent, honestly British is just like... "what?"
ChrisMcMuscles Sep 13, 2013 @ 4:52pm

And you think the OP is less of an idiot for saying they should spend more of their funding (which already seems to have been pushed to breaking point) hiring a huge amount of experts in ancient languages? or is it only the romans he cares about and everybody else could speak like londoner from the 1920s as long as his romans are speaking a language that was mostly written and not spoken.
