Kinda makes you wonder why you payed $60 huh...?
It doesn't mean you have to go down that road though... especially with Steam sales of 75% or more.
I choose to support the developper with my purchase, and hope that most players will do the same. But there are arguments out there that a certain amount of piracy can actually help (google Game of Thrones Piracy - the producers have said so themselves).
There's just about nothing developpers can do about piracy, except putting in draconian measures like StarForce, but most gamers (justifiably) revolted against that.
Yeah, so what? Why should we give a damn.
We liked the game - we buy it.
Someone pirates - so what? Sometimes it is a good thing to do, considering false advertising these days. Better than any demo. Besides, it gets support and multiplayer and has less problems
But if you enjoy the game, I think we should feel obligated to buy it, as thanks to all people involved in its development
Anyway, this forum is really not the place for a thread like this.
Aye, they dont concern you, after all you guys are all about pay and everyone play..
Edit: Sorry for the seemingly negative feedback but I don't think you should complain about things you don't fully understand.
Seemingly your bathing in money, you can buy the game as a symbol of appreciation.
Your opinion seems naive yet you say you have knowledge in these things.. No one of all people buy something that is free.. Especially the unemployed under age folks. Factors that would contribute to buying after downloading would be guilt (unlikely), contentment with long hours of gameplay (really impressed), collectors obsession, yeah right, if piracy is so good the developers should jump from demo's to full version freebies, donations as I know, are more problematic compared to sales.
I don't buy into the "underage, unemployed" stuff. If someone has a computer that can play TW:R2 well, then they have the means to pay 50 bucks for the game. The may choose not to, which is their call, but it's not because they are on the edge of starvation. That aside, playing the latest video games instead of, say, stuff that's in bundles or on 75% sale is not essential to anyone's well-being. It's luxury.
I pay for my media consumption and my games, but I have no issues with pirates. I don't think they matter economically. Here's a study from the EU commission on the impact (or lack of it) of music piracy: http://ftp.jrc.es/EURdoc/JRC79605.pdf
And really, I love companies that just put in 0 crack prevention, such as gog.com or the Witcher 2. It still sold well, even without any protection.
