Released today, already cracked... Really?
I goota say, for a great game, total war AND steam should improve their software against piracy, already in 6 hours after release i find the game uploaded in torrents with cracks for both game and multiplayer... Not cool.

Kinda makes you wonder why you payed $60 huh...?

New to gaming? Most games are cracked BEFORE they're released... that's just the way it is.

It doesn't mean you have to go down that road though... especially with Steam sales of 75% or more.

I choose to support the developper with my purchase, and hope that most players will do the same. But there are arguments out there that a certain amount of piracy can actually help (google Game of Thrones Piracy - the producers have said so themselves).

There's just about nothing developpers can do about piracy, except putting in draconian measures like StarForce, but most gamers (justifiably) revolted against that.

Yeah, so what? Why should we give a damn.

We liked the game - we buy it.
Someone pirates - so what? Sometimes it is a good thing to do, considering false advertising these days. Better than any demo. Besides, it gets support and multiplayer and has less problems

But if you enjoy the game, I think we should feel obligated to buy it, as thanks to all people involved in its development

Even if a crack works, I imagine in this case it'll be pretty inconvenient with the ton of patches we'll be getting. I pay for games to support developers, though, not because there are no alternatives. Same with books and music.

Anyway, this forum is really not the place for a thread like this.

Yeah, we actually bought the game. Pirates do not concern us on this forum

Sure, have draconian DRM put into place. See how that works out. AC2 did it, guess how badly it was trashed by actual gamers?

its their punishment for DLCs . You bought the game because you value the product . If you dont value the product dont buy the game . easy as that . People are going to download , live with it .
Ēarendel 2013년 9월 3일 오전 8시 37분
I'd go as far to say that, when you know the game is for free and a click away, no one is obliged to blow their money away for nothing... The game is also not valued as much as when you pay for it, this doesn't help the developers one bit.

Aye, they dont concern you, after all you guys are all about pay and everyone play..

QQ I bought this game and at the same time HAVE NO ISSUE with people file sharing. Try before you buy is a great way to increase later sales. Also, if you paid retail than it's your own fault. Shop around, I got it for 44 bucks.

Edit: Sorry for the seemingly negative feedback but I don't think you should complain about things you don't fully understand.

Seemingly your bathing in money, you can buy the game as a symbol of appreciation.

Your opinion seems naive yet you say you have knowledge in these things.. No one of all people buy something that is free.. Especially the unemployed under age folks. Factors that would contribute to buying after downloading would be guilt (unlikely), contentment with long hours of gameplay (really impressed), collectors obsession, yeah right, if piracy is so good the developers should jump from demo's to full version freebies, donations as I know, are more problematic compared to sales.

Music has been mostly DRM-free for several years now. The music industry isn't going bankrupt only because people can effortlessly copy songs, which proves right there that people do pay even if they can get something for free in illegal ways (in Switzerland it isn't illegal, for example). You can get any digital media free if that is what you want, and if you are willing to deal with the legal risks and inconveniences. That's always been that way.

I don't buy into the "underage, unemployed" stuff. If someone has a computer that can play TW:R2 well, then they have the means to pay 50 bucks for the game. The may choose not to, which is their call, but it's not because they are on the edge of starvation. That aside, playing the latest video games instead of, say, stuff that's in bundles or on 75% sale is not essential to anyone's well-being. It's luxury.

I pay for my media consumption and my games, but I have no issues with pirates. I don't think they matter economically. Here's a study from the EU commission on the impact (or lack of it) of music piracy: http://ftp.jrc.es/EURdoc/JRC79605.pdf

So it's cracked, all games are eventually. Sure, put in some DLC that only gives you 3 activations, requires you to always be online and you have to put your cd in. See how much you like that.

And really, I love companies that just put in 0 crack prevention, such as gog.com or the Witcher 2. It still sold well, even without any protection.

^ why people defend this or defend the fact that the game is bugged? I don´t get it.

I support drone strikes on software pirates. I would have less problem with them if they understood that pirating software isn't a valid form of civil disobedience protest unless you intend to get caught AND punished. Stealing and hoping not to get caught isn't civil disobedience, it's just stealing. The whole point of civil disobedience is getting caught and thus publicizing the inherent problems with a law. The vast majority of software pirates don't do it as a form of protest, because they are also hoping not to get caught. That just makes them pimply thieves who didn't want to lay out the cash. Saving money isn't protest.
