Skulls over images
I'm using the free version of GameMaker: Studio and all of images have skull and crossbones put over them. The tutorial images that it came with and the images I have created are all affected by this. I am guessing this is some sort of anti-piracy measure but I'm running the free version directly off steam so not sure what could be triggering that. I do have an old version of GameMaker (free version of 8) on the same computer so I'm not sure if that could be causing issues. Anyone run into this or know how I could solve it?

I believe that only happen when you compile your project (outside of steam workshop) under the free version. The free version does not give you free game compiler. You must buy at least the standard version to not have this issue in your complied projects.

Ahh, so I won't be able to see what my game actually looks like unless I buy the standard version? Makes it a bit hard to test things before I put something up for the competition. But it will look fine if I put something into steam workshop for the competition?

I didn't have this issue with the free version, from what I can remember.

Interesting. Can anyone else using the free version verify either direction? If its a problem specific to me I'd like to get it resolved if possible.

Using one of the completed tutorials, it worked inside GM and also with the compiled windows export. (I am using the free version as well) no skulls.

Ok, thanks. I'll send a bug report to yoyo.

Maybe he exceeded the limits of the free version and that's why skulls showed up.

Nah, it doesn't let you create past the limits.

Yeah, but he could have imported a project or started a tutorial that already had more than what the free version allowed. Or maybe he figured a way around the design interface restriction. So it might be an additional protection built in the compiler.

No, I tried that. It just doesn't import everything. It'll cut out 99% of the game if it has to to make sure you stay within the limits.

Can you post a screenshot so we can see what you are talking about?

Your copy of GameMaker has become corrupted. Please uninstall it and re-download.

I contacted YoYo and got the same response. No idea how that would happen but I'll reinstall and give it another shot. And for people asking I hit the skulls creating the first tutorial so we're talking only a handful of resources, well below the limits.

This happened to me when I unplugged and replugged my external harddrive while having GM:S still open
