I wouldn't say "removed" (it's still receiving one update more, and has already previously received one in the past long after it became "hidden", I think, so it's not exactly completely "dead"), but rather "hidden", in favour of promoting GameMaker Studio 2 more.

But as for what you want to know by asking this, the answer is "yes".

as of August of this year there will no longer be any more updates to the 1.4 engine. Release Notes[store.yoyogames.com] and you have to have opted into the Beta version to get the final update.

EDIT: there is a download link on YoYo's site LINK[store.yoyogames.com]

I've read somewhere that once they've tested it enough and such, they plan on making version 1.4.9999 the "official" "non-beta" version, and then they'll stop updating it after that.

Edit: However, whether I actually read that or simply misremembered something, I don't know.

Considering I've spent several hundred dollars on this software and exports it's a bit frustrating that they're dropping support as of late.

-- Are YoYo Games continuing to support GameMaker: Studio 1.X?
On 31st July 2018, we ended support for all GameMaker: Studio 1.X issues as laid out in this GameMaker: Studio 1.4 Sunset blog post[www.yoyogames.com] (posted on June 8th 2017). The final release of GameMaker: Studio (1.4.9999) is now available on the beta channel, which along with some bug fixes, removes some online connectivity in the IDE (details can be found on our Release Notes page[store.yoyogames.com]). For information on how to switch to the Beta channel, please refer to our Updating GameMaker: Studio article. With this release, the software will be moved into a legacy state and no further fixes/changes will be added. While you are welcome to continue using the software, we cannot guarantee future module compatibility following any platform updates by third-parties.

EDIT: links provided to the Sunset Blog mentioned and the Release Notes mentioned.

it is hidden but not gone, if you put a copy onto a flashdrive and add it as a non steam game, it installs it as if u had bought it.

What executable do you add as a non-Steam game?

I feel your pain. I bought the pro version, yes it wasn't hundreds of dollars but $90 is still a lot to waste. I used to have a license on the website, it's been scrubbed. The only license they claim I have is standard, which is a lie. They want to force everyone onto their "pay forever" subscription plan. I get the reasoning behind switching to a sub-plan but not allowing those who paid money for their other versions to continue to use them is a rip-off. I'm not buying GM:S 2... ever. I buy software to buy it once, not repeatedly forever.
