Thirty Flights of Loving

Hipster game made by hipsters for hipsters....
My friend got it, and he played it while I watched. Ended faster than him typing his credit card to buy this game. Left with nothing but a feeling of emptiness.

Two and a half euro, you know what that could have gotten him? 2 cheeseburgers, save some children in Africa, make a bum happy or buy some glue to repair the damn door that´s been broken for two years. Instead the money went to the devs to make more "meta" games.

My condolence to other who thought they would get something enjoyable. Well, I just wasted some minutes of my life, it hurts but at least I could afford those cheeseburgers.

Is a hollow game, is easier to sleep telling yourself the truth, this game is not fun.

Thoughts?

The problem is, that i cannot even rate the game. I usually play games for some hours before i have an opinion about them. This is just impossible in that case :-D
But seriously; I should get it, right?
It was sweet, but even for $2.50 I wonder if it was worth it. Cool "story," if you can call it that. This is basically a visual short-story without any answers.

Really, you should watch a let's play movie on youtube first... I don't want to claim that it's a bad game, but i felt pretty unsatisfied after completing it (after maybe 10 minutes!)

Perfectly said! Apparently I pissed off some hipsters in my post basically stating the same thing...
It's a good example of how storytelling could be handled in a game. And not much else. It just feels like I gave two quid for a demo, or a prototype. It wouldn't be such a gripe if not for the price.
It's not so much about the 2,49€, it's more about how it makes my steam library stink up. I would pay twice as much to have it removed from my library. I'm ashamed of having it there, is it possible for the Steam staff to delete a game from my library with my permission?
It's not for everyone, certainly.
Maybe playing with developer commentary and trying out Gravity Bones, which comes with TFOL, will change your minds ever so slightly.
I agree with this threads original statement.
I've noticed that there are two types of great games: Ones that excel in storytelling, and ones that excel in mechanics. It is INCREDIBLY rare to find games that are great with both (The Bioshock series are the closest I've seen). But this game does an amazing job with the story. It keeps it cryptic enough to leave you wondering, but also gives you all the pieces to figure it out, all without unintentionally breaking the flow, and all without words.

The fact that the storytelling is so minimalistic leaves a lot of room to add in some great mechanics. With this game inparticular, I feel that would detract from the story, but it is certainly a step towards that "perfect game." With storytelling so simple, and yet, complex in nature, there is far more room for mechanics.

Now, I certainly understand what's not to like about it (Especially the price). But I do wish people would stop mixing up "This is a bad game" with "This is not my kind of game."

Have a nice day.
Seeing all the threads about how this game sucks, is too short and is not a game to begin with almost put me off from buying it. I'm glad they didn't, this game is absolutely beautiful. The story was cryptic enough to leave me wondering what really happened but I got enough of the big picture that I can appreciate it. So far these were the best fifteen minutes this year.

Exactly. Nowadays the story's completely exposed in most mediums, there's no room for imagination and this game was really refreshing in that aspect.
