Best way to play Alien: Isolation (or any horror game)!
So you bought the game and you're wondering how to get the best experience from it? It ain't with the lights on, that's for sure. Here are some tips for maximizing your horror gaming experience.

1. Play in the DARK! Yes, that means turning all the lights OFF. Hopefully you're not scared of the dark, if you are, well, at least you have the monster hiding under your bed to keep you company while you hide from aliens. So do what you have to do to get your game room dark, close the blinds, close the door, etc. Also, the game is quite dark, so being in the dark will make it easier to see in-game since you won't have the lights washing everything out.

2. Wear a headset. Surround sound is nice, but when you're hearing the distant "scattering" you might not hear on big 'ole speakers it really amps up the creepy factor.

3. Play alone. That means not playing with that one friend who goes "Trolololol, I'm standing on his head, lawlz." While it's fun to play most games with a buddy, the best way to get your heart racing is when it's just you and the Alien, in the dark, all alone. Ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom. However, if you have a real chicken pal, that can also work. Nothing like a friend who's constanty saying "What was that? I think it's behhind you." to get your paranoia revved up.

4. Turn the mic on. (This feature is only available on PS4). Need to sneeze? The alien will hear you. Coughing? The alien will hear you. Asking your mom what's for dinner? The alien will show you. So this is an awesome feature, and hopefully they will bring it to the PC. Noise will bring the alien to your location. It wants to find you, so if you're making noise IRL, it will alert the alien to your character's location.

The game's on sale in Steam now, so if you haven't tried it, I would recommend buying it!

The antiglare on my monitor makes it very hard to see dark images in a bright room, at night though the game environment really comes to life - a game definitley best played in darkness.

It's ok dude, nobody died :D

I like my monitor, IPS image quality is fantastic and I actually prefer the matt finish rather than a super reflective glass panel.
