a must have
They really need to replace the promo art.
we're playing with nongendered blocks, why would you want to mess that up
Edit: I don't see why you'd take something like that out of a game like this. Or unless it wasn't added yet, drop that idea. That was something I was looking forward to.
so they clearly state there that players can choose to be male or female and then they dont really give us that option?
Im fine with genderless block people, but those in minimum clearly look male (larger upper body for example)
At various points in Minimum's development we had both "male" and "female" block models for players, which is of course what you see in the older trailer and screenshots. A few months before heading into Early Access we took a look at this and decided that gendering our block people felt strange. Why did we need to add stereotypically female characterstics to these characters? We felt that it would be more interesting if our block people weren't gendered at all - if they were all just block folks.
We made the switch and did away with the "female" model, but the reality was that we didn't really think of them as female or male. We wanted our one block model to be genderless rather than male.
Unfortunately, being a small team we failed to clean up our older art assets and ended up with the images you responded to still out there. I'm very sorry if you feel like we mislead you into buying Minimum as that absolutely was not our intention.
For the time being we'll be making a pass on our advertising material to make sure it correctly represents the features in our game. In the long term, I'd like to have a conversation with you, our players: what do you think about gendered block models? Do you like the idea of our block people not having a gender, or would you prefer we implement additional models that clearly differentiate between male and female?
We think it's interesting to have a genderless world, but our opinion is not the only one that matters. Please do let us know what you think!
I usually play with my boyfriend and having the option to play as female gets just more important for me that way. playing a dude is just weird.
if it wasnt just 5€ I would have looked closer and I wish I did before buying, because I do not want to support that playing as female is a feature that gets scrapped so easily.
To expand on this further, if our base models were less clearly masculine would you like the idea of genderless block people, or would you still prefer we had two different gendered models?
having the choice is always better than not having it. But playing as a genderless block person is more acceptable than being forced to play a male one.
btw, there is a difference between sexless and genderless.
I actually quite liked what some screenshot showed of the female models. simply more slender built and with slimmer limbs, no exploitive nonsense
