Excellent Game with 1 Fatal Flaw
I just played a map for over an hour and a half. I collected every relic, opened every chest. Gained 3+ levels on 1 character... and then proceeded to lose to the final boss by a couple of hits. Unfortunate, but I still to get to keep all of my loot and XP progress, right guys? Of course not.

This disincentives the player from trying to persevere through setbacks. If you make a mistake, you might as well start over since you will be punished for failing. There is no reward for completing 99.9% of the map. Also, if a map is too difficult, why isn't there an option to return back to 'camp?' The only option is replay the same map or hope you have an earlier save state.

In sum: good game, questionable design decisions. Nobody likes a game that doesn't respect your time.

I believe there's an autosave that puts you back in the camp before battle, but I'm not sure. You might as well check it out yourself. Btw, are you talking about the final boss of the game or final boss of the map?
It was the boss on the 5th map that I wiped and lost all of my progress. He had 44HP and I was down to 1 surviving character. I don't mind difficulty spikes, I'm just mad I wasted almost 2 hours with nothing to show for it.

Thanks for reminding me about the 'autosave' feature. I had forgotten about that.
