audio error, game pausing, no music [solved]
on launch it gives a "failed to initialize direct music audio" error, sfx play but the music cuts out, and during gameplay shooting causes the game to briefly lockup so its pretty unplayable

soundcard is a xonar dgx

Delete everything, uninstall, and redownload it from steam store. Should fix it.

Had no problems before, just installed a Xonar DG card and since then i have the same problem. Installed the latest drivers from Asus website didnt help.

Knapman, what windows are you using? im running windows 7 64bit and i solved this problem now. just go to your steam folder and locate steamapps/common/supercratebox, right click Supercratebox.exe and put it in win xp service pack 3 compatibility mode.

i took another look into it, turns out the GX mode in the xonar drivers breaks the game, turning that off fixes it
