FTL Multiverse
Looks like a neat mod and thinking about giving it a shot at some point. Just curious about opinions and stuff. Does it seem balanced or experience any issues?

it's got bad ships, good ships, absolutely insane ships, stealth B---'es, secret sectors, super tough encounters, and like, 12 pages of ships total, with many having B and C variants. It's quite balanced, imo, though it heavily depends on your ship and skill.
I certainly enjoy it, and i haven't had any bugs in dozens of hours of playtime.
Only complaint might be that a few events are strangely written, but that's about it.

Go for it. If you enjoyed FTL at all, then you will love Multiverse. Its a very easy install as well.

The amount of content it adds... you would need hundreds of hours in order to get them all. I do agree with the other comment though, some events are strangely handled. Most of the time though it is only an improvement, and a large one at that.

Thanks for the details. I'm super excited about it and glad to see the modders were able to open up the game a bit more. I will definitely give it a go. What about the final boss fight, any changes to that?

It's a great mod and I can see why some call it the unofficial sequel. Its got loads of content and expands on the lore among other things. Highly recommend.

If the FTL creators really like the mod, maybe they could implement it officially in FTL? That would be nifty.

It's actually really good. If you don't like the RNG in the early part of the game, the first couple sectors are now really balanced.

However, it gets downright vicious later. If you're used to boarding being a complete joke, that part of the game has been upped. Boarding events can be downright scary in Multiverse. (Get Lightweight Emancipation Grid to neutralize this. C.U.R.A. is your friend.)

Similarly, enemy drones can be a lot more dangerous than in vanilla. And again, one of C.U.R.A.'s rewards (the Arcadian Omni-Drone) is great at completely neutralizing this. (It is mediocre at best for handling missiles and other DD stuff but absolutely kickass at getting rid of enemy offensive drones which there are WAY more of in Multiverse.)

I've been playing it tons, and it's really fun. Loads of content. At first it gave me the impression it made the game easier. Then I tried to do the Ancient questline and got my ass handed to me.

It does have some seemingly woke stuff in it though. Some lecturing about how "genders are weird" and your only option is to agree, when I wanted to say it's extremely clear-cut and has been for thousands of years. Very subtle.

Make a character that doesn't have modern politics revolve around it challenge (impossible)

The base game is not, no! Base game FTL is amazing. The mod Multiverse has some politically correct propaganda in it. But I think the mod is one of the best mods I've ever played anyway.

It's just a mod. This thread is about it.

I haven't played FTL yet, even though I bought it a while ago - would anyone recommend starting for the very first time with this Multiverse Mod installed, or is it maybe better to start with the original base game while getting used to the gameplay? Also, is Multiverse available via the Steam Workshop mods, or do you get it elsewhere? :)

Even the lead developer of the mod, Kix, has strongly advised new players not to start on Multiverse.

It's a very different game, and if nothing else Multiverse will be overwhelming to a new player.

You'll hear very different opinions, because players like different things. For example, for me the base game never gets old; and I have no desire to play Multiverse, because it is exactly the opposite of what I love in FTL.

The only way you can find out for yourself is by playing the base game, and then maybe later think about trying Multiverse.
