You have no idea how many times players tried to tell them that, though I think a real issue is how small the DFOG team is and lacking someone to handle the adding of steam features to it.

There are plenty of indie games made by sole developers on Steam. The size of the team wouldn't be too much of an issue as far as being on Steam goes.

The real issue is DFO's ownership changed hands a few times in it's life. One of those owners had it on Steam. The current owner doesn't.
