The entire code leak thing was fake. Yes they leaked codes actually but they were from 2018 not from today. So there was no risk for playing source games at the start. And people getting hacked was just photoshop.
Heavily
Techradar, uses a tweet from someone with 0 source knowledge, literally an account for heavy updates, but decides not to post the after tweet where he shows how much he doesnt know:

Clearly baiting for clicks. Valve has already made various statements over the different service accounts they have, as an example:

The code is not only an older version, but also it was already released or "leaked", it is a limited version, as a showcase for partners... Valve, in case you dont know, sell source engine licenses to other companies to build their games, and thats how Vindictus, and many other games, came to exist.
Also, knowing how the source engine works, doesnt mean RCE is easy to deploy or even possible, theres still a bunch of things in the way, and for the case of Vindictus, they use a heavily modded source engine, and we dont even know how much they actually changed.
Don't believe everything you read, especially when these type of "news" websites depend on clicks and running ads to stay alive.
