Terribly uninviting for new players
ok so i just installed the game and if your gonna claim to be an mmo atleast incorporate some mmo based introductory quests or training, and im not talking about thos little boxs with tex that pop up, how am i supposed to learn anything. and one other thing, how am i supposed to learn and enjoy myself when i get thrown into a match with clearly no matchmaking system as everyone im up against has 3 ships already and i have no idea what to do.. looks like it could be a game i could fall in love with, if i could learn how to play without constantly dying. too bad.

that they have 2 ships doesnt matter much the matchmaking is madel ike this.... Every match is matched up in tiers, the ship levels corresponding with those tiers are.....

Level 1,2,3 ships --- are tier 1 ships
level 4,5,6 ships ---- are tier 2 ships
Level 7,8,9 ships --- are tier 3 ships

So that means, if you start out as the level 1 ship, you probably are fighting against ships than can be stronger than you, sometimes more , sometimes less....
But if you would play as a level 3 ship, you would only get the same strenght, or weaker ships.
Why they have made it like that i dont know, but i think thats the way the matchmaking is made...

So that would mean that if they have 3 ships already, theyre all the same level, or lower than youre one ship.. expect when youre playing regular games. then you need the extra ships, because every ship has only one life in regular game...

Perhaps you should better try out to play the arcade mode, then you would have neough with your one ship, cuz you have unlimited amount of respawns.

besides that, you can run scenarios, with 3 other random people, thats like doing missions. more credit reward than a normal match if you win it, and fair high chance on good loots. but your xp and faction points get halved, and if you dont win the match, you wont get the faction points and xp.

You can practice alone too, not as fun, and no rewards, but if you feel that youre not ready for the scenarios, you can try ship setups there...

Click the little dropdown menu above the fight button, there you can choose to do scenarios. i started out with that too, till i got to tier 2 or something, like i said, it has quite a nice credit reward and altough the experience and faction points are halved, and you even get no if you lose the scenario i think, still credits though. But if you do get to the end of the scenario, if they still didnt change it, you get a sure green or purple experimental loot. just make sure not to miss the purple loot marker. :D

I hope this "thread too long did not read post", kinda helped you out.

On the other hand, having more ships usually means you have more advanced ships within the same tier. A Lynx vs a Lynx Mk 2 for example. The gap isn't huge, but you'll probably lose in a 1 on 1.

That said, do some contracts and you'll be to buy some more ships in a very short time.

The boxes of text (I'm assuming you're referring to the help windows opened via f10 / clicking on the '?') explain most basic aspects. The stuff it doesn't tell you is easy to observe in battle, and/or figure out in the hanger. Failing that you can ask the general chat channel, or read the manual in your games file.

The matchmaking system which is quite clearly there restricts the ships in a given battle to a certain tier or lower. You can take a tier 1 ship to a tier 2 battle, but you will never get a tier 2 ship in a tier 1 battle.
Assuming you are playing Arcade battles (the default battle type), the number of ships you have is irrelevant, as you respawn when you die. Gaining access to new tier 1 ships is very quick and easy, especially as it's practically impossible to lose money from a battle until tier 3.
While loading, the game mode you will be playing is displayed, as is a description of your objective. When the game is loaded, the game mode is displayed, as is a description of your objective.

Learning to play without dying takes practice, trial and error, as with basically every other game in existence.

TL;DR version:
Try harder.
heres a tip from someone who found this game really hard to start with, but once i picked this up i was dominating tier 1 matches by the time i got my first lv 3 ship (the Swift Mk 2). When you lock on to an enemy, you will see a small red reticle moving around. This is where you have to aim to get a hit. It takes it to account your weapon velocity, the targets movespeed and direction, and range. As long as you aim here (and you are in range, and they do not change course) you will almost always hit. This let me stomp tier 1 matches.

if there were much more of a learning curve than "point, shoot, dodge" you might have a point.

Not really anything new to anybody who's played a flight sim in the last six years or so.

ye true, in my eyes, they should totally remove that aim dot, its really hard to see where theyre going and ♥♥♥♥ liek that, but it would make it so much more skilled .......

Reading is really childish brain cannot comprehend simply concepts and generic game concepts. I can't be bothered to take the 3..literally..3...seconds it takes to look at the controls. I'm angry that this isn't 'like an mmo' where other people are more experienced and powerful than I am, but I also hate how people are more experienced and powerful than I am. Instead of making any god damn sense, I'm going to go take a long time to browse through the community page and ♥♥♥♥♥ on the forum...yeah...that'll show em....

Someone skipped the Tutorial. Also they have a "Practice Solo" mode, as well as a "Scenario" mode with bot enemies. Why are forums used to dump ignorance bombs of worthless crap.
