So am I screwed as a pyromancer?
I killed the guy in front of the covenant without knowing that we was not an enemy, and I sent Laurentius down to blightown not knowing that the faggoshill would get killed. And my pyromancy flame is only +8 so I can't get Quelana. Are there any other trainers who can level up my flame at this point?

I also killed him, mistaking him for enemy (hit him once, realised my mistake but didn't know that there was a way to make him non-hostile again through Oswald so felt forced to finish him off to use that bonfire).

I then read online to see what I would be missing out on and saw how you could totally mess up the pyromancer character if you're not careful. So I immediately upgraded my flame to +15 and met Quelana and had her ascend it to +5.

I'm not sure if there is a way to get access to Quelana now that you have accidentally doomed Laurentius. I hope that someone more experienced with this game can show you a way. It would suck to have really useful pyromancy upgrades denied for such a simple and easy mistake to make.

Have you killed the Bed of Chaos? If not,you can get invaded(or do some co-op IN YOUR WORLD) with someone who has a pyromancy flame +10 or higher. It will trigger her appearance.Or so I've heard.

If you've already killed the Bed of Chaos, then you're screwed.
I haven't.

Yeah, that was an awful design choice.

I agree. Another big game design flaw I feel the game makes is in Anor Londo, where it is very easy for non-experienced players to run out of Humanity before reaching Ornstein & Smough. This happened to me and I began to despair as I thought I was forever trapped there. Only from reading online did I discover that it was possible to backtrack all the way to the Depths to farm more Humanity from the sewer rats - didn't make that any less of a complete and utter boring chore though.

I really appreciate that in the sequel, you can resurrect NPC characters if you accidentally kill them. It's still punishing you as it costs many, many souls to do, but it doesn't permanently lock you out of game content forever for a simple, unintentional mistake. Likewise, I appreciate that you can warp between bonfires in the sequel to avoid the situation I describe above.

Yeah, that was an awful design choice.

YOU made the mistake of attacking a friendly npc, dont make it the dev's fault.

Ummm... the devs pretty much set up that trap through the design of that area. How the f*** are new players meant to know that Eingyi is not just like the benign, useless egg-burdened things that you encounter just before the Quelaag boss battle? You won't know until you see the talk prompt, by which it may very well be too late and you've already started to attack. Then to add further insult to injury the game does nothing to explain that Oswald can make him non-hostile again - so the it appears as though the only way to use that bonfire safely is to kill him.

The game trains you to be constantly alert, always being on the lookout for potential threats and then punishes you severely for doing just that.

The devs made the poor design choice of making him look EXACTLY THE SAME as the enemies. How the ♥♥♥♥ was I supposed to know he was friendly?
