how to play with mouse and keyboard

dont have an xbox controller, so no way to really use it, cant figure out how to even grab the souls at the start without it, thanks in advance

check the game manual (right click on the game in your steam library) or the key bindings in the game settings; and check the sticky thread for the dsmfix tool, it helps with mouse controls

press q by default to grab stuff\interact with certain things

you really should be using DSFix, and then DSMouseFix, but you cant eddit the (A) button, its always going to be Enter.

heres how i have my controls:
W/A/S/D Movement
E Pick up souls/Open doors
Space Run
Mouse Left click Right hand attack
Mouse Right click Right hand strong attack
Mouse 4 : left hand attack
Mouse 5: left hand strong attack

It's not so bad once you get used to it.

I think default keybindings are:
WASD - movement
Tap Spacebar - Backstep (standing still) or Dodgeroll (moving)
Hold Spacebar - Sprint
Tap Spacebar while sprinting - Jump
Ctrl - Walk
Q - interact (pick item, open door, messages, etc)
E - use item (estus, etc)
Left Click - normal attack (also use spell/pyromancy/miracle for right hand)
Right Click - strong attack
Alt - 2 hand right weapon
C - Swap right hand weapon
Shift (Mouse 4) - block (can also use spell/pyromancy/miracle if you have the cast item in left hand)
Tab (Mouse 5) - parry / shield bash
V - Swap left hand weapon
Mousewheel up (R) - change spell
Mousewheel down (F) - change item
End - Menu
Del - Toggle display on inventory
Ins - Toggle status display on inventory
G - Gestures (use Ins to swap gestures around)
Backspace - Close menus
Arrow keys - Navigate menus
