Because it is the will of the Bene Gesserit.

So, you are asking why were the devs inspired by H. P. Lovecraft?:tbpwtf:

I have read many books, but I find no references to HP Lovecraft in the game

I see. So it goes like this then?

How?
For someone who has read 'so many books' your grammar seems rather bizarre.

I'm sorry but english is not my native language. Not every book is written in english, you know? So my grammar in another language has nothing to do with how many books i've read. You shouldn't judge people that way. it makes you feel better about yourself?

H. P. L himself is only quoted once or twice, remaining quotes are from other prominent 'weird fiction' authors. The game isn't directly inspired by the famous author but its overall theme and atmosphere are very reminiscent of his works.

English is neither my native language. However, I think that one should read books/works in their original form as much of their qualities are gone/cannot be conveyed when translated into another language. I don't judge people, I make conclusions when ample facts are evident, and no, it doesn't make me feel in any particular way, as I'm merely stating the obvious.

The obvious was to discuss about a game and its references, not grammar. That topic doesn't fit here. Maybe in another forum, or with your friends having a beer.

I agree, but that plain 'why' in your OP really struck a nerve. I do apologize if I sounded hostile, however.

Yep, and with that concept people "should't" read bibles unless they read it in Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek because you can't traslate all their qualities. Unless the traslator doesn't know what he/she is doing everything can be traslated .... except rhymes, that ability is witchcraft
PD: sorry for the bible thing guys :d, you can still read them.

You don't know how to properly quote, do you? :) Really? You are using that glorified book of desert fairy tales as an argument? While its artistic merit is highly dubious the gruesome, murderous messages and acts depicted in it are far more terrifying than any eldritch horror. More atrocious acts were committed in its name than Cthulhu himself would enact if he walked this world.

the child's metamorphosis into a crab-like human is also a reference to lovecraft stories, where the elder ones who lived under the sea were mutated fish people. also, the monsters you fight in this game are similar to some of the monsters lovecraft describes in many of his short stories. not any famous one, just every day creatures. they didn't mean for "inspired" to be interpreted as "adaptation". this isn't one of lovecraft's stories, it is simply a platformer made by fans of his literature that drew inspiration from his work.

That's ok, I recognize that "why" was wrong, but its spanish translation fits well, so when i created the thread I translated directly into my head without double-checking grammar.

I have read Lovecraft's work in english and spanish, and the translations are pretty good. It keeps the dark atmosphere.

You think only people who can read chinese should read "the art of war"? or "one hundred years of solitude" in the case of people who know spanish? i don't think so.

Perhaps "the Art of War" is a book that can not be translated correctly because it is too antique, and because of that, the book is filled with references and interpretations, but come on, lovecraft work ins't that complex.

Best answer so far. Thank you.

welcome. if you're interested in his work at all, you should pick up the necronomicon. it's a compilation of a lot of his best short stories. very good read.
