-Hey guys, you can fix this by making the game launch in DX9 mode.

-The reason is because this game isn't really optimized for DX11.

-The way to do that is through the following:

Right click F.E.A.R. 3 in your library.
Click "properties".
Click "set launch options".
Type "-d3d9" without the quotes.

-Let me know how it turns out, it fixed the problem for me.

HEY!!! I found the solution for fixing it! Anyways, this is how you do it...
1. In steam at the top left corner of the window, press Steam, then Settings.
2. Go to Beta Participation and click on "Steam Beta Update" listed under the Beta Participation dropdown-box.
3. Restart Steam.
4. Repeat step 2 and instead of pressing Steam Beta Update, press "NONE - Opt out."

dare devil solution did not work for me. :( And as far as the beta participation, that will not affect the launching of a game.

Actually, it has happened before a couple of months back. I installed this game earlier and played it, after I quit I noticed a new Steam Beta update, installed the update and when I tried to play it now I get the crash error.

dtimp007 did you write -d3d9 properly launch options without the " " ? It work for me.
Denim Dax Nov 7, 2013 @ 9:04pm
yes i did. redownloading the game right now. thinking i just got a bad install
I just opted out of the beta and restarted Steam, the game worked just fine this time. I would suggest people reporting the bug.

Also for does of you who want a bit more visual options you can go to the game files on steam and open the option.cfg file(with note pad). Read the description of the file, you can change FOV, and switch off motion blur, if you like and some other stuff.

It's a shame, that the game don't boot on Dx11 becuase the texture quality of the game is bad and if the game use tesselation on Dx11, atleast that would help the texture a bit.
